First Person Shooters / Re: Looking For BFBC2 Squadmates

I know this is an old post, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

Still looking for players?  Any chance you're playing on PC instead of console?

aka Daisho

  • (maybe Call of Duty 4 or World at War if there's interest)

More info will be forthcoming very soon.

So, fighters, any thoughts on whether this is actually worth what they say?

When I can afford it, I'll be getting it, but there's other stuff I have to spend money on first.  I've been promising to get my son a decent gaming computer build first, and all I have left to get him is a video card, so that comes first...

Howdy OKGamers!

I'm Geoff, aka DaishoChikara, or just Daisho for short.  My name translates from Japanese as "Two Powerful Swords".  The daisho, for anyone who cares, is the pair of long and short swords carried by samurai.  I could wax eloquent on here about why I chose it, but suffice to say it fits me.

I live in Tulsa, OK, and am mostly a PC gamer. I own an Xbox360 and play Halo 3 on it occasionally, but nowhere near as much as I used to play Halo 1 and 2.

On the PC, I play TF2, Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3, Civilization 4, Starcraft (1), and I'm sure there's a few others I'm forgetting at the moment.  I love FPS and TBS.  RTS is fun too.  I also love RPGs.

Off the PC, I play just about every tabletop RPG known to man, and used to be big into tabletop wargaming.

I have organized tournaments for both tabletop and PC games, as well as did company support for tabletop wargames for a number of years.

When I'm not gaming, I'm either working as a PC Tech/Web Developer for a small company, or spending time at home with my wife (Sahlah, on here as well), and two kids.

Look forward to seeing y'all at events, and in my sights online!  ;-)

General Chat / Re: Your PC Setup?

Manufacturer: Myself
Processor: Intel Core2Duo Wolfdale E7300 2.66GHz, 3MB L2 cache, 1066MHz fsb, not overclocked yet (I'm lazy)
Motherboard: MSI G41M-FD Micro ATX LGA775, 1333MHz fsb, bios v1.0 (will be updated soon, for OC purposes)
Memory: 4GB A-data DDR2 800Mhz, also not OC'd
Hard Drive: 1x 320GB Western Digital Caviar Blue, 7200rpm, Sata 3.0Gb/s
Video Card: 1x EVGA GeForce 9500 GT,1GB GDDR2, 128bit, 550MHz core clock, 400MHz memory clock, 1400Mhz shader clock, only slightly (shader clock) OC'd for now, will do more soon
Monitor: 1x Asus VW224U 22" widescreen LCD @ 1680x1050
Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio (hardly ever used, usually on headset)
Speakers/Headphones: Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 X-Fi usb headset
Keyboard: Microsoft Comfort Curve (don't laugh, it's actually really nice, but I want a Logitech G15 or G19)
Mouse: Cheap Microsoft mouse that came with my keyboard, optical at least
Mouse Surface: cloth-surfaced Doom Trooper mouse pad, won for 1st place showing in Doom tournament at a con MANY moons ago (I'm surprised this thing is still alive!)
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Power Supply: no-name 430W cheapo, top-mounted
Case: Linkworld 43706-228FU+P04 Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower (will never by this brand again)

The parts chosen above were ordered and assembled February of 2009.  They were cheap at the time and I needed something I could game with NOW, instead of waiting and saving.  I have an upgrade path in mind, but will not be able to start funding that until we move out of the apartment we live in right now (hopefully around December, just in time for that big fat tax return!)

So, yeah, it's kindof low-end, but it plays nicely.  When I played WoW, I would regularly get 30 to 40fps, even in combat.  Crysis on medium benchmarked only around 20fps and got worse during a firefight, but on low it was playable at 30ish fps (just ugly).  I play TF2 with it on max settings with no problem and high fps. Fallout 3 on high again around 30 to 40 fps.

Of course, if someone's got an old GeForce 9800 or better and want to sell it on the cheap just to get it out of their house, I'm willing to talk...  ;-)

(Or their old LGA775 Core2Quad they don't want anymore hehe)

Civilization 4 (Beyond the Sword)
Team Fortress 2
Dragon Age: Origins
and Fallout 3 once in a while

Oh, and Assassin's Creed 1, when I can get my son off the 360 long enough...
