Tulsa - Blockbuster Madden 08 Tournament - 7/19/08

Game - Madden 08 on Xbox 360
Location - Blockbuster @ 51st and Memorial
Time - 2pm
Entry - 10$ (which if your pre-ordering, will go towards the cost of Madden 09)

This is reported from a random guy I know that works there lol - he writes...

The tounament is going to start on July 19th at 2:00 PM at the Blockbuster store in the Fontana shopping center at 51st and Memorial.  There is an entry-fee of 10$ which is non- refundable.  However, the entry fee will go toward the purchase of Madden 2009 when it releases, and the winner of the tournament will get the rest of his/her copy of Madden 2009 paid for.  So it's really a free tournament if you plan on buying Madden '09 when it comes out.

The tournament will be in Madden 2008 for Xbox 360.  If you or OKgamers have any questions let me know...


He also states that if this tournament goes well and they get a decent showing then it's possible to convince the store manager to do one for Soul Calibur in the same fashion, other games, etc.

Fair warning - I was at the 81st and Sheridan Blockbuster, and saw a sign for "July 19th OR July 26th"...

...so you might wanna check more into this if your a Madden player, etc.

Also, I'm calling local Blockbusters now to see about getting contact info for someone in a regional position to simply approve and possibly feed the info directly to the site.  We'll see how that goes tomorrow.

Sadly it went down yesterday if it did.  No one from Blockbuster has contacted us directly, so either they didn't have a chance to bring us up, are working on approval, don't care, etc - we just don't know.  The problem with the OKgamers concept is it depends on gamers to spread the word and prove that it's useful - by using it.  AND - businesses taking the time to trust it's worth it to post....  Which means it requires someone to actually post from a business - and that can be hard to get the time for.  Then, there's always the "we don't want to use a free resource" or "we don't need extra promotion" arguement - sadly I've gotten those responses more than a few times. 

Anyway - only time will tell.  As for this event, to the aftermath it goes.
