100,000 Gamers Can't Be Wrong
« on: July 31, 2007, 07:23:27 pm »
The Video Game Voters Network, a group that is taking an active role for gamers across the nation in Washington D.C. has reached 100,000 members. This landmark number of registered voters is showing politicians in the Capitol that gamers are a real force and that “Politicians who think easy political points can be scored at the First Amendment’s expense have to know that such efforts will be aggressively opposed,” said Michael D. Gallagher, president of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA).

The ESA is focusing more on working with politicians to make sure that parents are more informed on the games that are being played in their households, than to make unconstitutional laws that group software games in the same ratings as movies, books, and music. “The response to the VGVN is overwhelming and dramatic—over 100,000 members, generating thousands upon thousands of letters defending video games. It’s impressive. Ordinary Americans’ passion for computer and video games is driving a desire to be counted and speak out,” says Gallagher about the success of VGVN.

VGVN has also launched a website (www.VideoGameVoters.org) and a web-trailer on YouTube, Myspace, and other video sharing sites to help spread the message to get more like-minded gamers to help in the effort. Let the politicians know that they still work for the people and that the 100,000 is going to be only increasing from this point on.

Just got done sending a letter to my state representative. Guys this is important for everyone not only in OK but across the U.S. please go to the site listed in the article and click the link that says "Take Action" and send the letter. It's automatically generated and once you put in your address it automatically finds your representative and sends the letter, pretty simple.
