So, there have been questions over the years about why we do a few things the way we do.

 - Why do we put ALL TYPES of gaming events into the one Tourny forum?  Because OKgamers is all about networking, and no gamer plays just ONE game.  Has NO gamer friends.  When he's surfing through the Tournaments and Events forum, we want a gamer to see everything going on currently, so he can be up to date and aware to tell his friends!

(We know some feel this is flawed, but there are revamps coming to the OKgamers system that will please everyone on this setup, so that's not the discussion for today ;))

 - Why do we serve the "OK area" and not just OK only.  Well, Oklahoma gamers like to travel, and if it's in our immediate area, why not have it posted it up for the Oklahoma gamers to go to.  This gives some of our sister sites in the Dallas/FTW area a chance to post, etc.

However, when it's come to events without a PHYSICAL location, we've been very strict, as it falls under our "still planning" mindset, which puts it into the Hype and Planning area.

That however, isn't true of online events, they are virtual.

So - we've been going off this mentality - if it's online and OK area ONLY gamers, we'll let the post be placed in one of the competition forums, as of late the Local Players forum.  (That's fair in our minds because that's where your looking for local competition, and since locals will be playing online, it seems to fit.)  If the online event is open to anyone, then we have it put in the chat area - as it's general discussion.

We will not be putting online open events into the tournaments events ever.  It would open the site up to constant spamming, and confuse the most important forum on the site - the Tournaments and Events forum, the core of the site.

So, if it's an online event and Oklahoma only, where should it go?
Should we stick with putting it into the local players forum of it's orientation?
Should we give up, and make a forum for it?  (this seems like a NO, because it'd be more work, another forum to check, and we don't see them enough to warrant it.)

Or, should we continue with the policy of online = general discussion, and put ANY online tournament thread into the chat forum?

Gamers - let us know what you think by posting in the poll and of course by discussing!

Does this include HxC online events? OKhalo and plasmaburn? Can we post in these area? This awesome XA now you need to add two broadtexters for okgamers so gamers can know about these online events. Send out a simple message letting them know that theres an online sc IV going on. You feel me?  ;)

The site must maintain a logical and straight forwards approach - else we loose people / usability / etc.

So - since we are a site dedicated to a IRL location, our state, our rules start getting outlined for us.  Since we require a date / time / location and at least one game chosen for anything to officially go into the tourny forum, if it's online - there's no real location, thus it does not belong in the T&E forum.

HOWEVER - if it's OK area only, it only makes sense to put it into the local competition forum of it's association, as online or not, it's local based competition.

Leaving only - online tournaments without a location requirement to be determined.

If we allowed them to be posted in the T&E forum, we'd be breaking the location rule, as well as inviting HUNDREDS of tournaments to overwhelm our site.  If we weren't location based, it might make sense, but we are, so it's not.

So, where do they go?  Do we delute Hype with all those?  Do we setup a new forum?  Do we throw it into the competition finder?  That's up to this poll, etc.

Does it affect Plasmaburn / OKHalo / HxC - etc?  As you guys make your rules, it'll affect how it's handled, yes.

If your online events are OK only, they can go into the local players section.  If they are open to all online, then we are looking to figure that out now.

I've actually already signed up for the text thing, however I wonder how longterm of a tool it will be?  When they'll start charging / etc.  I wouldn't want users to get this going, and then it become a bother or drag OKgamers good name through the mud with some random charging that site chooses to do, ya know?

Wow. I love the way you think! As far as rules we all have the same standards.. Prizes and prices may very. Are you guys going to be participating in our online tournaments? How will we be able to ensure locals only are playing in the online tournaments?
