As a major fan of Pokemon and having been on the competitive scene online for quite some time now, I've begun to see local players who too have played competitively which got me thinking that maybe the players of Oklahoma should begin to play together. After Volunteering at Tokyo in Tulsa and seeing multiple players who were even able to beat me, i believe that Tulsa has a very strong Pokemon base and it is just waiting to be tapped into and find all the players out there who are interested in playing. If i can and if all goes well, if we are able to find quite a few players, weekly/monthly meetings could be held with tournaments and just casual battling or even training for larger tournaments held nationwide. Below I've added links to the major tournament circuit that hits the US every summer. Even if those rules aren't your kind of thing, please please please don't be shy in trying to come together and battling, tons of people just play single battles and there's not a problem at all with that. All in all, Pokemon is a game just like any other such as street fighter or halo but just a game that requires different skill sets, seeing a boom in Pokemon Competitive Play here in Tulsa would be a major accomplishment, much less if we could get others to recognize us and see an influx of groups nationwide. If you and/or any friends would be interested in playing casually or in tournaments or both please don't hesitate to hit me up and see if we cant get some groups arranged!

^^ rules and regulations for last summer's tournaments. Please note that this was last year and this year's tournaments will only allow the use of Pokemon from the newly released Black and White games

http://www.pokemonvgc.com/en/events/dallas.php
^^ near the bottom prizes for just one of the regional tournaments are listed. Also in that link you can look and see how some of the strategic battling works out by watching the finals match from that event at the top of the page. By clicking 'events' at the top you can see where the tournaments are generally held (the reigonal tournaments generally stay the same year to year. Nationals and Worlds tournaments tend to change every year)

^^ Worlds Event, take note of the awesome prizes awarded to the winners

Bumping this thread! After volunteering at Tokyo In Tulsa for a few days i've seen multiple people that are equally excited to battle as i am. If we can just get together some people and maybe start a group just to hang out and battle and get it started so that others can see that we exist and then maybe grow into something. Once again, if youre interested then just hit me up in PM or reply to this thread. I live in the owasso area so anything around there or in the Tulsa area wouldnt be too much of a hassle to get together once or twice a week and chill and just battle or whatever.

I really like that idea cravix, maybe if someone were to get on the tokyo in tulsa boards and call for one and get enough players it might happen

9
Not so much anymore after last patch, mundo is bad now QQ

10
We should get a 3v3 tourney going on here with people from OK only (if thats at all possible)

11
meh if youre tulsa area and we really had to travel, im sure transportation could be arranged very easily

12
Main reason i ask is because i dont know if many people will really want to pack up desktops and haul them. I mean, me and roomate have laptop and i wouldnt have a problem but i cant really speak for the rest of the community

13
but just out of curiosity, if they were to have an LoL tournament, how would it go down? like bring your own computer type of deal or what?

14
All LoL players, go to the OKC tourney thread and call for a LoL tourney there (only if you would be interested in showing up and playing though) and get all friends to. An actual tournament with prizes and stuff that wasnt in europe or some ♥♥♥♥ would be pretty nice.
