3.   Topic Creation Guidelines

When making a topic, if you follow these simple guidelines, it will make help users find your topic and generate a larger response.

Find the forum which best fits your topic
By placing your topic in the most appropriate forum you are showing your respect for the community and you will receive respectful responses.
Identify your subject matter in the thread title to help others understand your topic better

If you have a question about something
Before posting your question, search the forum
Your question or comment may have been discussed, answered, or resolved previously.

Tournaments and Events Board
When creating a topic in the Tournaments and Events Board, your thread must follow this format:

City - Event - Date

We do this so other can quickly see what Events are happening in their area without having to enter every topic. If you create a thread on this board without following the format, you will be asked to change it within 24 hours, during which you or a moderator will change it to fit the format. Keep in mind that moderators are usually busy and, if you do not edit your title to fit the standard before a moderator does, you may have missed out on people who were interested in your tournament.

Also, make sure that, when you create a topic in this board you include as much information as possible in an organized manner. The more information that you can provide will let other people know what they need to know without having to ask too many questions. It’s also important to keep it organized. If it’s just a wall of text, then no one is going to read it.

If you need an example of what is usually posted, try checking the other topics in the board before posting up yours.

4.   Posting Guidelines

Here is a list of posting guidelines that you are expected to follow on OKGamers.com. Please be aware that, while some of them are not exactly rules, please try to conduct yourself in a mature manner at all times.

Welcome newcomers

Do not chastise them for not reading the forum etiquette, simply link them to any rules or recommendations on how to properly conduct themselves. Make them feel welcome in the community.
If you don't have anything to say, don't say it.
If a person posts hundreds of posts just saying "LOL" or a few smilies, nobody is going to take that person seriously. For the people that use OKGamers.com, respect comes from post content, not post count.

Stay on topic

These can be very busy forums, so please pay attention to the subject matter of your posts, and check that it still relates to the topic and forum to which you are posting.

Help others
OKGamers.com is a community and works best when people share information.

If you don't know the answer
If someone asks a question to which you don't know the answer don't respond by saying, "I don't know." It’s better to not respond or, better still, post the member name of someone who might be able to help.

Check your facts
If you're not certain what you're about to post, check the facts. No one will listen to you if you keep getting things wrong.

Confused by a poorly written post?
Ask for clarification, don't mock the author. Post authors vary in age from 13 to 20+ years old, thus levels of education differ significantly. Do not discriminate against someone younger than you. OKGamers is not here to make people feel good about themselves by putting others beneath them.

Getting complaints about your posts being unclear or poorly written?

Please remember people use this site as a resource and wish to understand what you’re saying. Take the few extra seconds to preview what you've read and make sure it actually makes sense in the context of the conversation topic in the thread your posting to.
Posting something only halfway written gets across no meaning.

How you can make a difference when encountering unsupportive or rude members

Report the user for misconduct or PM a moderator.

Report inappropriate posts
OKGamers prides itself on being a fun, friendly, and supportive forum. If you see any content that is against the OKGamers guidelines, please report the post or send a PM to a moderator.

What to do when encountering spam

Do not reply to it (it takes moderators longer to remove it if you reply) and report the post for misconduct or PM a moderator.

Content You Post on OKGamers.com
