Has anyone besides me noticed that Fun and Games on 31st is closed down?  When did it close?  Anybody?

Its actually been awhile, I'd say at least a month now. Yeah, they've cleaned out and put up a lease sign already. But yeah, something like that.

We used to hold all of our Street Fighter tourneys there back in 01 and 02.  It was really sad going by there and seeing a big, empty room  :'(

As a fan of the gaming scene, yea this hurts.

One reason I'm REALLY behind Funhouse and the cause of having console tournaments at arcades - is to help cross-communicate the needs ya know?

Arcades - they are a public place for gamers.  Consoles?  Only breed in house / closed off play.

I say we cover the weaknesses of the two mediums by combining them.  Sure you want to play console games at home, but come out for the tournaments ya know?  Help support the arcades by having things at them, and by working with the owners.

Anyway - Rod owns Funhouse off the Riverwalk, and he's a great guy.  He's got the vision for helping out the community, and is really ahead when it comes to this kinda thing.  It's why most all the tournaments I throw to help promote this site happen there - it's just a win win for everyone.

Some finality for those curious about FnG's.

Sounds like someone approached the owner with an offer to buy out all his hardware.  Evidently the times weren't being as kind as they used to, so he saw it as a way to get out of the potential future losses, and sold his stuff.  Evidently there wasn't much warning either.

Just goes to show us - nothing should be taken for granted.  If you like it, support it, and if you love it, bug everyone about it ;)

Have I mentioned Funhouse moved to the riverwalk? lool.  And, keep spreading the word on OKgamers.com - most of us have decided to give the year of 07 to making this thing work.  After that, if it doesn't stand on it's own, it might go the way of FnG, Nu Wave and so many other game based stuff.
