: Final Round thoughts
: Animefreak6969 November 08, 2010, 01:30:59 AM
Final Round is a huge tournament in Atlanta as most fighting game people know.

Well FR is doing qualifiers of sorts all over the place, and i realized 1 is in KC Missouri, and the MAX OUT crew is helping.

As i'm not a representative of OKGamers I didn't do anything, but i was thinking that someone, like SAIF, could get a hold of some people and see about running one here as well at a different date or even a different year since KC isn't that far from here anyway.

Timmy - we desperately need people to take on a role defined as "Community Rep" effectively.  What you do - play your games, keep active in the communities you enjoy, and keep OKgamers in contact with the game communities of your choice, etc.  We don't have an official title for it yet - but we need it, and you've been effectively doing it lately / reposting content / helpign us out - I'd suggest you consider if you'd like to officially take a title or two ;)

--

As for Final Round - unless they have already closed communications, etc - feel free to inquire into what we have to do / who we need to contact, and email me.  If it's public info - just link here.  Do a bit more leg work for me so I don't have to figure it all out - and I'll look into it for us.  Help me help you ;)

Well, it's more for a gamer with his "one" or two communities he's active in - on forums, competitions, etc.  At least on forums lol.  (Also, AnimeFreak has kinda been filling this role for several fighters, thus the conversation.)

This "Community Rep" takes care of 2 things - one, OKgamers "Staffer events" and other interesting events they spot on OKgamers getting reposted to the proper forums by these guys that are watching out for their games and events posted for their games.  Two - having someone we can go to FOR SURE for info on rules / updates / etc for their game.

You are a Business leader, OKg Evangelist, and OKC TO - you want MORE titles and responsibilities?!  lol

Those Titles are perfect. Also we need to start putting together street teams. Not for hxc, but more for getting people on okgamers.com social networks and do midnight launches to hand out flyers

Kos Mos might be down for Melty Blood at FR this year...

On a slight tangent.....I'm going to be super busy TOing this year, but print me some fliers and I will get my anime club members to hand them out in cosplay at midnight launches, thats something they would definitely be down for.

Unfortunately I don't have the money to print them myself, but cards and fliers that people can actually hang onto are much more effective than word of mouth.

The only thing better than a flier is instant access. The proliferation of smart-phones among american youth necessitizes the mobile accessibility of OKgamers. With the site redesign a mobile display options for smartphones would be a good addition. IDK how feasible that is, smashboards has it though. Meeting anyone with a smartphone and telling them to check out the website right then and there is the best option to get them hooked.

It would consist of two parts. One would be a condensed version of your front page that would load upon detecting a visit by a smart phone, the other would essentially be an optional forum skin that would auto-load upon detecting access by a smart phone.

I'm actually pretty sure SMF HAS a mobile feature - why it doesn't "kick on" when you hit it through a mobile phone - I haven't researched...  Thanks for bringing that up though, I'll add it to the list of things to look into.

As for the front page - yea...  Right now it's Tables - it'll be CSS when we are revamped, and will scale a lot better that way.  As for a pure mobile option, there are also avenues we can take there too, so - once again something we'll have to look into.
