: Tulsa - Planning OKg's 6th Anni at TCC Metro (CONSOLE/TABLETOP/CCG) - 2/25/12
: X_A September 21, 2011, 03:00:36 AM
It's that time again...

Last year was a big year of firsts (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3367.0.html):  this year won't disappoint either.

THINGS FOR SURE HAPPENING AT 2/25:
Console fighting games that were big at Tokyo in Tulsa - coming back like MvC, SSF, SSBB, MK.  With SC around the corner, SC4 too :)

Console FPS's - you get Gears of War 3 2v2 and Call of Duty MW3 2v2!!

Console Sports games - Madden has been discussed - make your voice heard nice and loud here to make sure we carry that out.

...but that's not it.

The same team working with TnT and OKgamers at the last few Tokyo in Tulsa's?
Will be bringing you TABLETOP AND CCG PLAY THIS YEAR:
...to name a few.

--

That's what we are willing to share now: there will be more.

THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN AT 2/25:
...speaking of more?  What do you want to see?  What do you WANT AT THE 6TH ANNIVERSARY?
You get 10 to 20 people on here all asking for the same game?  We'll listen.

Madden - is already a suggestion:  we tried racing last year, no one cared :D  What about Sports - who's up for it?

(WHA - I matter?  Yes.  We'll support whatever people care about.)

FAIR WARNING / QUICK FAQ:
WHY NO X OLD GAME: - We usually support the CURRENT version - old games usually have no real following, and so they just take up useful space :)  Prove us wrong, we'll try it. ( Cept Halo 1.  No love for old Halo, tried it;) )

WHY NO PC LAN: - we'd LOVE to see a Tulsa or mobile PC LAN community to work with here and at many OTHER events!  The only one we know (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,2422.0.html) about is out of NW OKC, and doesn't travel / seem to care to team up.  No group to back it, just like a random console game, we go ahead and move on.

WHY NO CCG / TABLETOP IN THE PAST: - A, we didn't want to compete with existing stores events, etc.  We've been told by gamers they don't think that's a problem.  B, we didn't have TO's / community reps / people to help that; working with TnT for years now, that has changed.

--

SO!  What games do you want to see!!??  Anything else?
Hit us up now, and spread the word - 2/25 this year is gonna be awesome!

Want a sample - check out the hundreds of people who came out and had good times last year - check out the Facebook photos (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150175418025170.348143.200177120169); free shirts, Red Bull hookups, and much more - good times were had, and you don't want to miss this year!

Definately looking forward to helping out with this even at much as possible this year as well!

And as a suggestion, and hopefully a few people will agree with me, we can see the Pokemon Video Game Tournament at this even??

I believe halfhearted attempts of Pokemon have happened at several TnT's - and never went through.

Get the version you want made clear - and get 10 people behind you, and we'll try it at least :)

The biggest games at our tournament were AE, Marvel, Melee in that order. If you have a tourney in Feb, you're looking at
AE2012, UMvC3, SFxT, and several other new releases. New games are always popular.

SF and MArvel and SMASH are all no brainers.

SFxT as well if it's out.

I vote KoF XIII and Skullgirls which will both be out this year.  SC5 of course if it is out but it wont be.

Skullgirls is DEFINATELY something I'm getting into. There's a chance SFxT will be out by then looking at the Japanese Vita launch. No way SCV is going to make it for TCC, but certainly by TnT. While I fully expect there to be a Wii U version, I doubt they're going to delay it.

TCC has internet, but I'm not sure if we could pull off a total "XBL" event for it; does Battlefield 3 have a patch / update now that allows offline / LAN / split screen play?

Sports/Arcade gamers: Here's one I'll float out there. Any interest in the upcoming NFL Blitz revival? It'll be out by playoffs season and looks to bring a modern revival of that classic late 90s arcade football brigade of blazing players, turbo buttons, and comedic cursing style of play.

There's a new revival coming out at the start of the year for 360/PS3, likely during the NFL playoffs in January. Just wondering if anybody would be interested in that.

Sheezy - Ricky of HxC performs the role of "Community Lead" for pretty much every FPS currently:  he states that you can throw $1000 at Halo players, and barely get 6 to 8 teams...  Throw that same sorta deal for MW, you get 300 people.  So - no need to support Halo if people don't care anymore; but I'll give you a chance to prove Ricky wrong.  This event - is locked in now; however you can still get Halo a spot at Tokyo in Tulsa by proving that Halo players still care.  At least "compete" with the attendance of MW3 at the Sapulpa Central Tech event on 1/21 and we'll talk for Tokyo in Tulsa.  Otherwise - Ricky sounds right, and it's MW3 and Gear's time; you know the community, rally your troops for 1/21; 2/25 has gone to Mw3 and Gears due to lack of Halo interest.

(PS... Why care about Tokyo in Tulsa?  A little birdy told me they are putting in OVER $800 into the FPS pots...)

This event - GEARS 3 - 2v2, MW3 - 2v2.   Halo still around - prove it at 1/21.

GoW 3??? :))))

Gears of War 3 2v2 and Mw3 2v2 confirmed!!

why not 4v4 in GoW?

why not 4v4 in GoW?
GoW hasn't proven to have a strong local community yet, and I highly doubt they end up proving otherwise. So a 2v2 gives the tournament more of a chance of having enough teams. If it's 4v4 and only 3 teams show up that sucks and is a waste. But if that same amount of people show up and it's a 2v2, it goes from 3 teams to 6, making a tournament better.

I understand that but with the fact GoW3 has majority of the GoW community back, and it's most likely going to be put on the Circuit next year alot of people are trying to get 4's in for practice, not waste their times with dubs.

Just my thoughts, I know theres been gow lans with little showouts, I attended them. It was still better having 4 teams 4v4 then 8 teams of doubles. I've got a team of 4 just wanna get in some LAN before attending Hypefestation,MLG,Etc for the experience.

just my 2 cents bud

You are right so lets build please, Also I'm still 100 percent positive about Halo.. I mean theres too many complaints, drama, teams breaking up the day before... I mean come on $1,000 guaranteed and only 29 people show up? ridiculous.

Gear of War 3.... Nightmare Do you have a local 4v4 team? I play gears and I only know 1 legit full team.. until Gears proves a ton of people show? 2v2's will be ran. Also I see you still havent signed up for the 2v2 on our site... Whats up with that?

There should be a few more floating around the forum that could support this - hopefully they will!

GEARS OF WAR / HALO / COD - fall to their Community Lead's decisions.  However, since FPS is so combustible, we normally only have one or 2 people to listen to; currently one.  Timmy.  More on Community Leads here - http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3830.0.html (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3830.0.html)

2v2 Halo vs Not / etc - all determined by what the Community Lead had seen; and he's already weighed in, so I'll leave it at that.

Did someone say GoW3? Point me in the prize muneyz direction! Will there be SC2 at the TCC event or TiT? I'll read more posts later, meh.

You know a good game that never really got any rep was War for Cybertron. Really fast paced, chaotic shooter. Plus I mean, robot death match, come on!

Welcome to the site.  We are in talks with the same guys that did the Starcraft Tulsa Barcraft to see about having them out at TCC - if nothing else the 1/21 event.  Not sure - if you know a lot of SC2 players let them know we are trying to get this going for them; but need to see their support / attendance at an event before we'll support them at TnT, and other events where it'd be a 'main liner game' people would travel for, etc.

That goes for LoL too - and LoL players already have the challenge - show up to 1/21, and prove you exist :)  SC2 - still working on finding a community leader / community to work with...

You know a good game that never really got any rep was War for Cybertron. Really fast paced, chaotic shooter. Plus I mean, robot death match, come on!

In a way - these two questions are very alike.

Anyway, there are SO many good shooters - but if there is no local community to back, then OKgamers can't support them.  1/21 is a "open gameroom" for us - we can offer space to a lot of new or "in question games" like LoL, and if they show up?  We'll support them at future events...  Otherwise, there isn't much reason to plan an event for a game no one shows up for :)  (And frankly?  Is a risk - people show up for a Hello Kitty Island Adventure event - and no one else does?  They are let down, and may never return to the site / trust it / etc...  So - for Promotional Events - OKgamers staff do not work with anything we haven't already vetted through an event like 1/21.)

Not gonna lie this is mainly for me, but this exists and i'd like to see this happen.
It's asking TOs that are willing to step up and host regionals for Blazblue in rising for the Blazblue Revolution.

It's sad - I hear about gamers loving racing games - but no interest when we've tried.  Kinda the same with all sports games other than Madden...  Dunno; if a community springs up, we'll support it though!

Halo, provided Timmy's halo hardware sponsors hold out?  Will be there.  WARNING: I suggest you tell any of your Halo friends to bring hardware, because if we don't have enough to play, we won't.  We haven't "relied on Halo players to bring all the hardware" in a long, long time - be aware we add Halo as a potluck hardware situation - gamers show up with it, or it doesn't happen.

D3AD - I'm assuming you are requesting LoL.  There hasn't been an event for them to attend or online requests to put it over SC2...

...Starcraft 2 has a Community Lead, some hardware coming with him - and a base of players that have shown up to an event.  If TCC goes well, we'll be able to talk LoL; otherwise this is our FIRST PC event at a Promotional Event, and at an untested location for PC gaming for us, TCC.

Everything goes well - we'll talk LoL at TnT.  But only if SC2 goes well, and we ever find a Community Lead that can guide us in those uncharted waters.

These event threads are up,  this thread is now going to be closed.

Console FPS / Fighters - http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3870.0.html

Tabletop / CCG - http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3908.0.html

FINAL WORDS ON LoL:

Until 2/25 happens, and we see anyone will even show up for a PC tournament?
Until someone steps up and can actually fill the shoes of a Community Lead (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3830.0.html) for long enough to answer some questions, and jump through such basic hoops?

Until at least these 2 things are met, OKgamers can not and will not include LoL as a suggested event to businesses, or game for any promotional events we organize.

Do not spam Tournament & Events forum threads without LoL - it won't get you LoL.
(Note, Koze405 - you haven't done this that I've seen; this response will be linked to future LoL players that might be doing this, etc.)

I appreciate your enthusiasm but from my side of things: until we can prove anyone will even show up to a PC event, and we have a leader who can help facilitate the needed "you help us help your community" that a CL does - there's no point in even trying, things don't work out otherwise.

--

As for LoL players, may I suggest you direct your energies towards useful goals elsewhere as well: http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3931.0.html

With no internet needed, your opportunities for local events increase vastly.
