WANT TO KNOW WHO'S SHOWING UP?  We'll see you on the 25th up :)  In all honesty, people won't find out about this in some cases till the day of.  Some gamers wouldn't pre-reg, even though it's free AND saves you money - just because they are lazy, etc...  Pre-reg usually only accounts for 30% of actual attendance at some events!  However, to encourage the use of pre-registration we've waived the organization fee if you d0 pre-reg.  See the smart ones here.

ATTENDEE LIST:  https://tokyousainc.wufoo.com/reports/okg6th-attendee-list/ (https://tokyousainc.wufoo.com/reports/okg6th-attendee-list/)

HARDWARE
OKgamers will have 16 Asus "No lag" style monitors at this event for Fighters.
HxC LAN Center will have 16 setups.
OKgamers Community Leads (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3830.0.html) will help provide consoles and hardware for their games.
Attendees that can bring "full setups" - aka no-lag TV, console and games will have organization fee's waived, and high-5's given.

HALO REACH HAS BEEN ADDED: however it's 100% "community provided", aka HxC has worked with Halo gamers to make sure we have at least 8 setups to run the event on showing up...  BUT, we are paranoid; gamers lives change, etc - MAKE SURE if you are coming for Halo Reach you bring a hardware setup if you can!  If we don't have enough hardware to run the event, we do reserve the right to cancel it!  (We should be fine; but help insure that by bringing your Halo Setup if you can!)

ATTENDING HARDWARE - you can see on the Attendee List - https://tokyousainc.wufoo.com/reports/okg6th-attendee-list/ (https://tokyousainc.wufoo.com/reports/okg6th-attendee-list/)

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING AS A TOURNAMENT PARTICIPANT?
If you plan on playing in a tournament - your entry fees in cash and your own controller, as extra controllers will not be present beyond what gamers brought to use themselves.  (Cash?  Yes, sorry, no CC machine here guys lol.)

And yes, Obviously: Console gamer = correct console controller, PC gamer = keyboard.

"You mentioned bringing hardware." - for those hardcore and/or helpful members of the fighting or FPS community, yes, we do have people bring hardware.  Luckily for those 2 types of gamers, 4 to 8 setups go a long way, only requiring a few to bring hardware; if you want to help out, we have an area on the pre-registration form, please let us know what you can bring!

NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK!
Why?  While we will be there for a while, the good news is TCC Metro's Campus Cafeteria area will be opened up to us!  Plenty to purchase in snacks, drinks, and food!  They may have hours they run their grill vs not, etc - just make sure to check in with them after pre-registration, etc!

--

We've been planning this event for months, but still have some sponsors and details to lock down; check back here for updates!!
ENJOY GAMING?? Don't miss out on this, it has something for EVERYONE!
See you in February at one of Oklahoma's largest yearly gaming events!

--

Flyer IS ATTACHED - please spread the word where you can!  Community Leads and Supporters, if you are wanting to do a big run, we do have flyers printed as well if you want to get those.

I will have two computers for official games and bracket play. You are encouraged to bring your own equipment to help make things easier, but not required.

How is the scheduling for the different tournies going to work? I know some people that would like to enter both SC2 as well as some of the fighters, and maybe even some of the shooters. Since the shooters and SC2 matches take much longer than the fighters, will the tournies be running concurrently or will they be separated?

OKgamers staff members do a good job on allowing everyone to play in multiple games. We recommend knowing the guys that are running each event and stay in touch with them the entire event so you can know when its your turn and so they can manage the bracket to keep going.

I hear ya. I just wanted to bring up the potential issue that since SC2 matches take a LOT longer than fighting game matches, the fighting game tournies may get held up due to waiting on a player to finish their SC2 match.

That being said I would play your fighters first because they go super quick.

we do not use xbl in these, we use lan. in lan connection you have to level your own character up. I think the best thing we could do is just have a lan party. like at chaos in supulpa? or somewhere big enough.

You dont need to have a lan party. Just play private matches on splitscreen and level up.

As far as sc2 computers go we're not there yet. Two computers will not support a medium to large sized tournament but  I'm the only person whose stepped up and offered any hardware so far, and so I only have my own limited funds and resources to work with. I will continue to do the best I can and drum up sponsors for the event to get more comps there.

It's bring your own set up for now. . The tournament will probably feature 16 or so players in each main bracket. The rest of the area will have connections for people to bring their own set ups.

PRE-REG - coming shortly.

T-SHIRT SPONSORS - we are still looking for 3 - if you know a company interested, PLEASE HAVE THEM CONTACT US :)  ( www.okgamers.com/contact (http://www.okgamers.com/contact) )

Halo Reach 2v2 - Yes, we are doing it, however.  It's TOTALLY HARDWARE DEPENDENT ON GAMERS - it's been promised so far, so we should be good...  However, we are cautious and still remind gamers - if you can bring Halo Reach hardware - please do, just in case.

SC2 - Compy I've got that laptop you used to stream with a bit back, that can be used; just haven't installed SC2, etc.

Starcraft 2 - we can use PC hardware help; this is a big deal for our future PC lan events.  If it works out we can support it more at future events, including Tokyo in Tulsa, etc.

Will there be a team tournament for Smash Bros?

The community lead for Smash - Chuck Nasty / Josh would be the final say on this, but I suspect if we get enough hardware there for SSBB 1v1 and 2v2, we'll throw a quick 2v2 first.

FPS PLANNING - has been great and all, but when we come back to update the thread to INCLUDE Halo, those FPS rules, etc - we'll be cleaning up the thread.

FOOD AND DRINKS - for the FIRST TIME we'll have the TCC Campus Cafeteria open - everything from snacks and drinks to food available; times will be posted when we get more details.

More info to come soon!

The map pool will be mostly GSL maps. Same for the tournament this Sunday. Which maps is not yet set in stone. It will likely be best of 3 and the loser picks next map. Double elimination depending on size of the tournament. I will give everyone a chance to veto maps or have a list of maps they do not want to play.

The tournament registration will be on z33k.com

You must unlock classes in MW3 on a per profile/xbox basis. It's very time consuming to get everything unlocked AND THEN get the pro versions AND THEN get all attachments/proficiencies.
The makers of MW3 are trying to solve this issue via a patch or hotfix, but I wouldn't rely on that being fixed by the time of the tournament. The way we solve that issue in Arkansas is to have each team create their own default classes via the host 360's game settings. The entire team has to share 5 classes, but most people don't use more than 2-3 classes anyway. It unlocks EVERYTHING with the exception of the pro versions of perks which (I believe) have to be unlocked manually.

no, private match and lan are two totally different things. private match is based on your gt and so is split screen. lan is not based on your gt. i used mine at the last tournament and started at 1, as my xbl gt is like 4th prestige level 30

Yea. Just go to splitscreen add a controller and play against second player. Dont go online. And when you set up the game play on dome snd. change the settings to time unlimited and lives unlimited

Whats the best game type to do this under???

I used search and destroy because it will spawn the second player in front of you. Any gametype will give 50 points per kill. Just go for headshots with the weapons you want to upgrade and use the specialist killstreak for extra points. Then you get the m.o.a.b. for double xp.

THREAD ALSO CLEANED :)

Skorcher, if you are done with the "COD rule discussion" I'd like to pull those posts too, and just put the rules link in the first post - let me know.

AS FOR WHAT WAS REMOVED AS PROMISED, here are the overall responses to anything that wasn't replied to yet:

"SELL WATER THIS TIME" - This is a college; there are water fountains as well as vending machines all over.  That said, we'll have the Cafeteria solution open this time, so you'll have an entire convenience store level selection in the next room.

"Why not XX GAME AT THIS!"  First off, this isn't a REQUEST FORUM - this is an EVENTS FORUM; request events in the HYPE FORUM (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/board,7.0.html) or the specific local players forum.  As for this event, too little, too late - if your game isn't included, it's cause it didn't get enough responses on the planning thread that was up for months (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3701.0.html).  Pro-Tip - if it doesn't have a Community Lead (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3830.0.html), chances of OKgamers being able to ever suggest it to a business or organizing it themselves?  Slim.

"WHAT ABOUT LOL!" For the last time: THERE IS NO COMMUNITY LEAD - until someone steps up and doesn't flake out, we can't really help you.  On top of that, we need to make sure SC2 pans out.  If it does, we'll look at future LoL events; but for it to succeed we'll need a LEAD (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3830.0.html).

"WHY NO 4v4" - we'll assume you are referring to one of the FPS games :)  Why?  We compare attendance and interest from events all over OK - 2v2 see's more attendance, so we've focused on 2v2.  Pure and simple - that's what the Community Lead (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3830.0.html) has found.

"WHY DID YOU CLEAN UP THE POSTS" - we had a whole page+ worth's of registration requests, OFF TOPIC "add a game", or something already covered; we want to keep it usable for those that'll try and read it all!

HALO - PRE-REG IS UP - get those 8+ setups showing in the pre-reg quick so we don't need to worry!  :)

all fighters are different man.

SF4 is 2 out of 3 rounds and 2 out of 3 games until FINALS which is 3 out of 5 games.

MvC3 is 2 out of 3 games until finals where it's 3 out of 5

SC5 is 3 out of 5 rounds and 2 out of 3 games until finals where it's 3 out of 5 games

KoF XIII is 3 out of 5 rounds because there are 3 characters on a team, 2 out of 3 games until finals where it's 3 out of 5 games.

BB is 2 out of 3 rounds and 2 out of 3 games until finals where it's 3 out of 5 games.

im looking for some Players that will be at the 2/25 event to Volunteer themselves for a Test. Id be interested in Fighters or FPS. Im bringing in Recording equipment and Microphones and everything I have recording wise and Im going to stream live to twitch.tv for Okgamers. Depending on my Final Purchase the Input/Output Video will be HD Quality. but im not sure yet Weather it will be HDMI or Component Video. Id like to be able to go from Match to Match Recording/streaming Different People. I will only be streaming / recording those where both parties agree if its a fighter.. And if its a Shooter than Obviously I only need the one person to agree there.

Send me a PM if your Interested or goto Facebook and Leave a comment in the OKgamers group on the message I posted there.

Or you can Email me    sammy  \@/ okgamers.com

Thanks and I hope to see you all there.

Well not go around as in for you to use all day. But if/when your match is on ask anyone with a stick and not using it to use it and most will let you.

For gamers new to the internet or competitive gaming scene - know every area gets random trolls; we've dealt with his kind before (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlZkTkUVpqk).  The only ones that matter show up.  If  this cajun kid shows up - mad props.  Till then, "just filter don't feed" is my best advice.

What are the sponsored prizes? monetary? do they go to certain games?

The sponsored prizes are usually items and services and are as diverse as the sponsors; and every console or PC event is guaranteed some of them.  We'll also be giving out door prizes from sponsors as well.

What game gets the most prizes?  The ones with the most attendance pre-registered, to start with.

Good. Bring Disc and console too if you can.

Also Everyone Registration starts at 11 once you register we need to unlock perks and guns etc cuz remember LAN does not have everything unlocked.

Yeaaaa, Mickey is a new CL, and I guess we are working the kinks out here.  I've got a Txt in to him to get this together and up ASAP; he's worked on it, I guess it's just not been fully finished.  Sorry, will get up soon.

So glad you got MLG and GSL versions! Ladder maps wouldve been horrible.... Although I think crevasse and terminus should be removed and replaced with Daybreak and Shakuras. Also why not add in the new map entombed valley? Just some thoughts for competitive play.

1) Somehow got redirected to another page when I logged in. What's the deal with that? (Some barcraft thread?)

2) I should be bringing 4-5 monitors. They should be going to Marvel/Street Fighter since  that's what I told people in my crew to bring, but assuming we have enough setups for those, I don't mind lending them to Halo or whoever needs them.

no, private match and lan are two totally different things. private match is based on your gt and so is split screen. lan is not based on your gt. i used mine at the last tournament and started at 1, as my xbl gt is like 4th prestige level 30

Good stuff. Now with that being said.... guys bringing xbox 360s you have to do the same!

I'm just trying to make sure I understand this. Unless we are providing a console do we need to do anything leveling up wise on splitscreen?

@housabubble If we get 8 consoles that have the perks all unlocked that will make it alot easier on everyone. Otherwise you will not have everything. I have 8 xbox 360s. The more people that unlock the consoles perks the merrier.

I would personally recommend just forcing both teams to use the host's console to make their own "Default Classes." This only allows 5 custom classes per team and it'd take a little while to set in between matches since everyone has to put all their classes on ONE 360, but I honestly don't see you guys unlocking every gun/perk in split screen within a few hours. Even if you do, many consoles will have discrepancies with pro perks. Not saying my solution doesn't have that issue either, but at least everything is unlocked right off the bat and pro perks are only available to those who grind them out.

EDIT: Saif- if you could bring some HDMI cables Saturday, that'd be great. I told people to bring consoles and I'll be bringing some monitors. They're more or less new though so I don't have HDMI cables with them.

I grabbed a copy of SC2 today, and depending on alot of things....  I  can join in on Spectator mode, and stream matches.    Its all gonna boil down to what kinda Internet Connection we have, and a few other things..

I can do SD stream over the Campus Wifi..   But Worst case Scenario, I can just record everything and stream it later.

Imma jump around from place to place best I can and get as many games recorded / streamed.   I got a couple of 50ft HDMI 1.4 Cables just for this lol.

Its Gonna be a fun  Saturday!

What's the rule on people who want to compete in multiple events?

You can compete in Multiple Events..  Just be Sure to tell your TO which Events you are in.  And if you leave to go to another game be sure to tell your TO.

Also Each Player will have a Number assigned to them. LISTEN for your number. If someone is calling your number besure to say something if your playing or hurry and get to your next event.

YES - REGISTRATION IS CLOSED - if you show up at the door you should be fine, however depending on shirt size, you may or may not be able to get a shirt.

--

Joe Momma's is a sponsor, so yes there will be items from them.

EDIT: Saif- if you could bring some HDMI cables Saturday, that'd be great. I told people to bring consoles and I'll be bringing some monitors. They're more or less new though so I don't have HDMI cables with them.

We'll have the ones for our 16; I'm not sure I'll have too many extra...

So just to get things clear, you guys only have two computers set up for sc2?

No.  A quick review of the pre-reg attendee list will solve that concern.

--

TheTrillz - I have NEVER seen a form represent more than 2/3rd's of any gaming event's turn out, unless it was mandatory.  If we have 8 signed up, we are closer to 12 to 16 in attendance, assuming the normal math holds.

--

MICMiLeS - SC2 is running on Mickey's aka Compy's ruleset.  As our Community Lead for SC2 he's responsible for providing the national standard for rules, with any adjustments made with the understanding it's to conserve time, deal with hardware vs attendance issues, etc.  If the CL tells us the rules, that's what we follow.

--

Halo Reach 2v2 - 17
Call of Duty MW3 2v2 - 44
Gears of War 3 2v2 - 13
Starcraft 2 1v1 - 35
Super Street Fighter 4 AE - 46
Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom - 53
Soul Calibur 5 - 23
Super Smash Bros Brawl - 21
Mortal Kombat 9 - 8
Blaz Blue - 13
King of Fighters 13 - 24

In the past pre-reg has represented about 1/3rd; I'd assume that it'll represent 50 to 75%...

...however?  Some of these are larger than single event turn outs.
With just the existing combined numbers this represents the largest console gaming event in Oklahoma.

5 States will be competing at this tournament; maybe more.

Show up and represent; we'll see you soon.

Probably wont be able to make it before 1PM exactly, can I still register and play?!

Sorry folks .

No Live Streaming.   TCC is nice enough to allow us to use their internet..  But because of security concerns we are unable to stream live.

However we are recording as much as we can   Mostly  Starcraft 2 and FPS's

If I can get a chance to move my setup I will capture some Fighters.  But right now im kinda Stationary.

In regards to the odd questioning of the map pool. ???

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/GSL_Maps

I am trying to use a combination of maps from the GSL & MLG

The GSL map pool is considered to be the most up to date and balanced map pool.

I included other maps for fun or got them from other tournaments. Not sure why anyone would only ever want to play MLG maps or would only ever take MLG in to consideration. I'm considering StarCraft 2 from a global standpoint, as such I will take consider first and foremost the leading StarCraft 2 league.. GSL..

Hopefully the changes made to the map pool sit better with some people.

Also if you've never heard of the GSL please do yourself a favor an become more involved in watching it, it's the top tier of the world as far as StarCraft 2 is concerned..

Thanks for the input everyone!

So about sc2, the map pool still hasn't be released. Please announce them so I know what maps I need to pratice on

Thanks

Sorry about the delay guys. Work and life got super busy for a second.

These rules are going to change constantly, in particular I would like to hear opinions on the map pool. I may need a few more map choices, but I don't want to exceed 10-12 total.

Why are we using these maps? These are out of date... terminus, and crossfire both arent used anymore... plus why isnt shakuras plateau in here?

Thats not what i did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC0xZiOyoM0 thats what i did. and i think thats what u should do for every person on mw3 so then ppl have all the perks, ect.

EDIT: I still had a great time. next time i wont have 20th prestige if u want i just did that so then no jerks would come and prestige me

hey anybody hating on them because they were smart enough to find a mod that will give u every thing for LAN and splitsscreen needs to learn that Timmy(Ricky) even said to bring a Flash Drive.... So he made it were he didnt need to level it up... ♥♥♥♥♥ he would have done it for all xboxs too. I talked to Timmy said if u give him flash drives then he could do that for you, btw he could have made it any rank.... but he choose 20th prestige so then no one could prestige him(which some one was 80 and got prestiged) But Timmy when u tell people to bring a flash drive and have their stuff leveled up why should u complain? Its all for fun, NOT for 25 year olds to talk ♥♥♥♥ on 15   year olds like me, my brother, and my other friends.... Oh and btw Notloc and Levi(Oneshot) paid Cyriacks and his partner $10 each to use the USB.... and why was it fishy when other people used the accounts too?

We never used the flash drive accounts. The XRG clan did not let us use them, first 2 games we played we used our normal accounts Notloc918 and Oneshot2k9. Yes if we could have used them we would have, Yeah we paid him 10 dollars to use them but in all reality we never got to use them for an actual game in the tournament. So next time you include my name or others get your facts straight. First off you started saying things to the other team, which would include your entire "team". To be honest we didn't even get close to winning it anyway so why should it matter what we used. When you had to use the setup everyone else used you got destroyed. Sorry to say it, you lost. Taannkk and Dankyy won, fair. They won every single match with out a "modded" xbox/flash drive. Thank you, see you at the next tournament, with no flash drives? Awesome

Tank and Dank had there stuff leveled up. It just took them more time then me to get that way. There where at least 4 other xbox's that had the account Nxkes and Cyriacks(prestige 20s) Now i did this bcuz the only account on there were level 1 or something else really low so i wanted to be nice and let them use the accounts so that we can have more of a fair tournament so no it wasnt just me and my friends using the flash drive accounts. I had plenty of ppl ask me to use the flashdrive accounts and i let them its not fair that some team has to use stalker and the other team has turtle beachs. Next time ill bring more flashdrive and just either sell them or put them on all xbox's so its fair game and so i dont get called a cheater by cry babies

XRG didnt run nothing they gave me suggestions and so did other people gave me suggestions that were fair... period.. I let you guys run on your set ups majority of the time and only made things fair due to Modern Warfare sucks on LAN period. You ran with your Unlocks majority of the tourney right? OK so you dont have right to say I dont like the way this tournament was ran Timmy didnt drop the ball. You should be mad at your peers for not listening to timmy and unlocking stuff themselves. Your community did things wrong.. Ill fix it next time.. but   not one person brought flash drives except normals so we gotta be on a level playing field. OK?

CoD was really unorganized it started late and had nothing but complainers about levels and stuff(which yes ur right its the game developers fault) ill try to bring alot of flashdrives to the next event and just transfer the profiles on to the xbox hard drives. That will make it not only more fair but run faster and smoother.

I have a lot to say about the tourney Saif and it's something we'll talk about in the future (or whenever you want to).

Overall, we had a blast. Tournies in Oklahoma are always fun for us and we always do our best to make the most of it. Were there hiccups? Yep. But y'all pushed through and every year this event continues to grow and thrive. I am proud of what you guys have done.

Great seeing everyone and getting games in with everyone and great seeing the organizers of OKGamers and HxC repping it for the community.

A few changes that everyone can agree on that I'll quickly address:

1) I know that information needs to be given in an effective manner, but having (what appears to be) a very angry person yelling at people and giving them attitudes is not the way to do it. I get what the one lady wanted and why she was trying to clear us out, but when she started making her sentences choppy I legitimately could not understand her. It's hard to "follow her orders" if we can't understand her. She also didn't make any sense. We were trying to leave and we were waiting on our last person to get his things and she tried to force us to leave. Then when I explained the situation to her, she told me to sit down? Definitely made for some unhappy gamers.

2) All tournies should be run on Challonge or Tio. Paper brackets for the SC2 tournament don't cut it when those who lost in winner's semi-finals get knocked down to first round of loser's.

3) See if there's a way to start earlier or stay later. Time was very tight and the most important matches are always at the end. Changing the rules of those matches (1 round only; ft5s -> ft3; telling people they can't finish their tourney) will always lead to very strong emotions.

Despite the problems that will always happen, you guys always manage to do a great job with what you have to work with and we'll definitely be back next year.

Maxx!  Glad you guys had fun; and thank you for the notes.  Most of them are quick answers:

1 - "the angry lady" - was trying to help, but not totally informed.  She see's people standing around not leaving, I see 3+ state's worth of gamers unable to leave because they road together.  Instead of trying to fight the help, we just went forwards trying to handle the fires at hand.  It'll be attended to; and more importantly?

...next year will be a CONVENTION.  With set times, clear guidelines, and a dry run for all TO's, CL's, and actual department heads to deligate issues to.  We may have impressed those in attendance with the last few years at TCC Metro - next year's event will be night and day in difference; look forward to it.

2 - "Challonge or TIO" - I actually am in the process of looking for a browser based solution for all future events.  TIO - crashes, and unless the NVGA will finally respond to my requests for an updated version, we are moving on.   Challonge "could lead to too much cost" based on what our staff member who was tasked months ago to review it...  We are going to revisit it as a solution as well as Zeek / z33k / the SC2 solution.

...that said?  SC2 would have ran on z33k if we hadn't had a pre-reg already set up.  That said - our CL for SC2 - this was our first event, and on top of that, he had emergency "work Saturday or your fired" pulled on him, so Daniel stepped up and helped run it.  To say SC2 was on our preferred solid footing would be a vast lie lol; but Daniel did do a good job overall from what I know, Sammy helped him, and when the CL got there, they converted it to digital / online / yea.

3 - finishing...

...I cannot TELL you how many crazy things happened this year:

I guess the last things to mention would be printing failures + wifi dying meant our registration process was delayed; despite multiple testing, etc.  And let's not even talk about the important venue officials who showed up outta the blue haha...

IN THE END: I feel it boils down to 2 problems: Nice, and New.

Nice - we had 15+ events going on, and we did not limit the gamers to what they could doThat clearly backfired.  Having NEVER seen 'multi-genre' gamers like this?  Not even a HINT of it (ex. Mustang 3 years ago; 100 gamers, 50 FPS, 50 fighters - zero overlap...).  We just could not be prepared.  Shooters are shooters, Fighters are fighters, and PC are PC - but we had people sighing up to LITERALLY 5+ TOURNAMENTS - and they were Marvel or SF, CoD or Halo and then SC2...  That meant every few matches we'd have to wait - killing our time tables.  I joke that adding SC2 seemingly broke everything lol - course it didn't, but it's fun to jab that at the CL ;)

At one point - I stated Marvel and KoF didn't have a CL - and that caused us issues trying to support it; if we had a CL we would have had more setups, period.  However...  the other problem was multi-genre / 4+ tournament gamers...

Nice - won't happen next year or again, we'll be limiting how many games / genres / something; it's in discussion.

New  - omg, so many new gamers.  We had 2v2 people showing up that didn't know they needed a partner?  We had fighters who just wouldn't read the rules.  I had mothers calling me for the last 5 days with questions on how little Johnny can play or not, etc.  The venue wholesale handed out my number instead of pointing them towards the website - and then again?  The website was setup for GAMERS - not parents...  Next year?  It'll be a convention; I'll have a reason to dedicate a page, and centralize content...

(...OKgamers in an effort to not 'value our Promo Events over those events posted ' - has never posted a graphic / banner / etc on the front page for our Promo events...  We want to be fair and not show bias.)

Now that it'll be a "OKgamers convention" - we have all the right in the world to have a full front page path and clearer content so things are just - more clear to the average person.

--

One other thing - date.  It'll be later in the year - end of March is our goal...
...that way we can coordinate better with sponsors, as well as gamers themselves.

Did we prepare ahead of time?  2/25 has been planned since SEPTEMBER of last year; but that 'new year reset' affects events of this size, pure and simple.

--

We do have a lot to be grateful for though; all those issues, and really we've had a lot of good feedback.  We loath the fact a few games had issues, but all of it can be tweaked or totally replaced out and fixed for next yea.  Staffing instantly fixed by becoming a Convention - because well, a 1 day convention has departments, and easier PR; which helps us all.  CL's are now going to be our standard; no CL, no game.  Will that lead to a serious issue when Marvel Vs Capcom comes up for TnT, etc?  Possibly, but we'll have to handle it; we won't fail a gaming community by not finishing their event again, it goes against our core concerns.

I'm glad so many had good times, and regret those fighters that took the brunt of "15 tournament" issue; we can serve as example to all organizers attending and involved - not to let that happen at their events.  It sure won't happen with OKgamers again.

Thank you and others for your kind words, and know we truly value our local gamers who came out, and all of our out of state friends; we hope to see you again at future events like Tokyo in Tulsa.  And later?  We'll see you March 2013 at TCC Metro for the first OKgamers Convention (Date to be announced ASAP so we don't have 'double booking' issues with anyone ;)).

This seems fishy, you tell u$ to bring flash to bring flash drives and we do. Then we get there and everybody is mad bcuz the didnt bring one. So then we get accused of cheating and my boy is forced to play another game which shouldn't have even been played bcuz they were accused of "cheating" it just doesn't seem fair to them that they were told they won and a bunch of haters complained cuz they were to stuipd to bring a flash drive

Id Like to Comment on the Paper tournament brackets..

I failed in this area..  TIO crashed every time Id open it up.  It wasn't till we where more than 1/2 way though and clearing out the OLD install of TIO and re-installing it that I was able to finally get it to work.  I should of checked this out prior to coming to the event..  So this was my bad here.. But Daniel did a great job drawing it out.

TIO works great when it works.

As for Web Based Tournament Brackets..  I haven't tested one yet that I like.   And the main reason is..

Duplication..   and Logistics.   Most all these web based tournament brackets require players to create an account.  And none that I have found give the TO the ability to just create a tournament and just manually input people.   This creates a Logistics Nightmare for when you have over 200+ people and only 1/2 or less registered online.

If we can ever get a good copy of the new TIO, it works great, we used it last year at TnT and it worked wonders and seemed way more stable.  If someone can either tell me a solution that does not require player to register an account before a TO can add them to a tournament, or maybe im doing it wrong, someone needs to explain to me how to handle all this, maybe I just overlooked the Manual player input option.

Id be more than Happy to switch to a web based bracket software.

Sammy - it was our first SC2 event; while it would have been great to do a SC2 event on a smaller scale first, the biggest issue is not every place has the space and connectivity of a college; so we had to go with it at this event.  We are already more prepared for next time!

Until we see 500 to 1000 attendance, I don't really see breaking up the days; it'll scare away more than it will encourage from what I've seen.  Not every gamer, hardcore or not can dedicate a whole weekend, I would think.

There were some serious issues with how the losers bracket was run. It got started wrong, and we continued wrong until the very end. This will never happen again as long as I'm in charge of anything, and hopefully sammy and I will be working together to standardize what happens in Tulsa and OKC, as far as StarCraft is concerned. We will be hopefully be using the same bracket software, and adhering to the same standards, so that we can get a league of some sort going with a reasonably amount of consistency. I'm excited to be working with other people!

A number of things.

As the StarCraft 2 community lead I will always be available for questions or general discussion regarding anything that has to do with StarCraft. I intend for this community to grow exponentially over the course of the next year or so, and so will our efforts. Expect to see a lot about StarCraft II in the PC section from us!

I will post the complete info for the StarCraft 2 Finals (including streams and player info) tomorrow at about 8pm. Please watch the PC gamers forum for more info. Thanks again to everyone who helped me make this possible.

A number of things.

  • From here on out, I will always, ALWAYS, use some sort of software for brackets. I feel that a paper bracket was the number one failure for our specific section of the tournament, It allowed for a ton of awesome games to be played out, with minimal issue, but the minimal issues are still something I would like to completely erase from this experience. The potential for errors otherwise is just too great. If Tio is reliablie I will use it. If it is not I will not. I want to integrate with the community on this one, but I need to research what is most stable.I've heard Challonge mentioned in the past and a couple of others. I will only continue to do what is best for sc2, and the players who compete in these tournaments..
  • I will never, under any circumstances change anything about the rules, map pool, or otherwise, within a week of the event. This was shortsighted on my part and I apologize.
  • All of the StarCraft 2 Tournaments that I help organize will use this constantly changing rule set/map pool:
    http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3942.0.html
  • The rules / map pool will adhere to a MLG/GSL combo that allows maps from both, and stays consistent with the global community... I'd like to tune the map pool down to about 6-8 selections or so, and no matter when / what / where these will always be selections from the most current MLG/GSL map pools.
If you're truly interested in sc2 you should be keeping up with both leagues, and also maybe NASL, ASUS ROG, IPL and a billion other super important tournaments happening all the time.

As the StarCraft 2 community lead I will always be available for questions or general discussion regarding anything that has to do with StarCraft. AnimeFreak - it's not about what will happen in REALITY - but how it will be assessed...  If Final Round was 1 day, I'd probably go lol.  People don't assess an event based on their real standings - they are looking at it like they'll naturally go to the top.  If we offer a 2 day event, we'll scare people off I feel; I'm definitely interested in others opinions, but like I've said - if we aren't pulling in as a whole event 500+, I don't see the need yet.

Sorry Bro I even dislike the way this tourney was done... but the flash drive thing is legit and it solves alot of the lan issues that we have with mw3 if everyone had one or u had one with the software on it then there would be argument on who has what u cant get cause ur not a level 80... i am going to download the program and put it on a flash my self.... and the ban thing ur talking about is a glitch that was patched along time ago and yes a few were banned but that was modding there on-line accounts not making the set up for LAN expandable.... nothing i have found so far on the mp-data flash drive LAN mod effects any of the weapon skills or the ability to do anything special... oh and another thing i like that you run the tourneys.. but u don't need to let these XRG clan rooks try to change the way we have been doing stuff... the rules are not mlg to a T but u do try thanks for all ur hard work..... because tac knifes are legal in mlg the only pistol attachment band is akimbo.. just for future reference.... oh and we gotta set the stuff up and get stuff runing a few hours before the sign ups start

First of all my LAN was ran fine... the only thing was wrong with it was the bickering and complaining.

LMAO Cyriacks it started late because you guys did everything but what I asked, bring console + disc + flash drive or unlocked profiles (not everyone but some). You are stating that it was unorganized? You jump the Tournament Organizer but failed to remember this. I said bring disc bring console.... barely anyone did so I spent time updating xbox 360s swapping connections moving consoles around THATS why it started late. Saturday was a good event, but I cant have you using something modded that will get you banned from xbox live. They are complaining because you guys had every weapon unlocked while people were stuck with unusable classes.  What is faster and smoother? Using mods that are not supposed to be allowed? Look if xbox live wont let you use it I cant.

Camp of Booty: first off they were going to have to play them again regardless, I went to see how much time we had left and Saif said we had enough time to do grand finals, So we did, tank & dank only lost once (one map) just like your boys did. They played best of 3 and lost the rest of the maps when we used a didnt drive, thats fishy.

Normally $10 per gamer is single elimination is the standard. Thats why I like to do $20 per gamer.  If the program you have is modded or glitching of any kind we can't use it due to national standards. It would hurt my partnership with 360 Icons, AcXess Gaming, and NGL. What I'm going to do is host another LAN party unlock the accounts to atleast 40 and go from there.. people wont be allowed to create accounts because they didnt bring a flash drive  so they will be stuck with OURS. Thank you oneshot you actually made it to where we could finish the event with your setup. Also wanna thank everyone else that brought setups.

4v4 online next month. 4v4 tournament is in April. Details coming soon.

the prestige set up that we have on flash drives isn't a glitch its a program made because of the LAN problem it doesn't effect on-line play nor can anyone get banned from xbox live or anywhere else for the use of it.. i got on xboxlive.com and talked to a tech to make sure the program is a non bannable item and he said that unlocking all the items in a private non internet based game offline for the purpose of lanning an event is unbanable and meets no requirement for ban unless it changes copyrights.. witch it does not... im going to try to contact the makes of mw3 and see if they have any info on an update that we may be able to get for the LAN players...

A few of points-
Challonge doesn't require people to register. It's (more or less) an online Tio. I don't like it as much as Tio, but it's an option that's very popular and easy. Tio is great, but it seems to have problems with large brackets (memory overflow error or something? same thing happened to us at ARK IV).

I'd recommend doing pools for bigger tournaments. If you run one tournament, it doesn't make a huge difference, but if you run 5... you can have a person in 5 DIFFERENT pools so they know exactly where to be from 2-3 PM, 3-4 PM, 4-5 PM, etc.

Some advice to get through brackets as fast as possible- skip players that aren't available so you can always just get matches going. A station "waiting" for a player to finish a match is wasting time. Also, get through Loser's Bracket as fast as possible so you can free those players up for the other tournies they are involved in.

Anyway, let me know if you ever need help from Arkansas for anything. You know we always got you guys covered.

I agree with it needing to be 2 days, especially if its a convention.  Allowing games to be spread over 2 days would make things so much easier on everyone, not just the workers of the convention but of the travelers from out of state as well.  If making it 2 days cant be done, we HAVE to have a less constricting time at the venue.  Cutting games that are being played and have a competitive scene would be the wrong answer IMO.

Tank and dank had them unlocked also i let plenty of people borrow them so it would make it fair. You cant get banned off xbox live for modding splitscreen and or lan. NoTLoC and Oneshot paid to borrow my flashdrives so if u think that it gave an advantage look at them they didnt even place top 3.

@cyriacks Great, but we did not split screen anything. Glitching 20th prestige is not allowed on xbox live or is it? Long story short lets do something that does not require glitching.

Still end of the day Tank & Dank won. End of story. Gundown's team couldve beat them one more time and won.. they didnt they dropped the next set of maps. Its over.

In the future Bring disc, USB drive, and possible console to help the speed of the tournament. Because when you don't be prepared for the event to take longer to start and later to end which I mentioned oh 100 times. Also I noticed people saying it was taking to long. How many times did I tell teams start the match start the match start the match? It helps not warming up and starting the match like I ask. Oh well it was still fun and awesome event.

Someone has my white controller. Poim Jaguar your dad took my HD component cables.

Again we did it so no one would prestige us. It wasnt a glitch. And we beat Tank and Dank and u said we won. They only beat us when we had 2 classes each and they had all 5 of theres. So when it comes down to it when it was a fair match we won.

EDIT: I also brought a disc

2 - "Challonge or TIO" - I actually am in the process of looking for a browser based solution for all future events.  TIO - crashes, and unless the NVGA will finally respond to my requests for an updated version, we are moving on.   Challonge "could lead to too much cost" based on what our staff member who was tasked months ago to review it...  We are going to revisit it as a solution as well as Zeek / z33k / the SC2 solution.

Dunno who told you this, but Challonge is 100% free and does not require anyone besides the TO(s) to create an account. Challonge gives you the option of listing people's account usernames so that they can receive things like notifications when they have an upcoming match, etc., but these are purely optional. Overall Challonge seems like a great option as long as you have internet access (which is the main reason we haven't used it at G-FLO -- venue doesn't have public internet access).

One downside of Challonge is that you can't label a match as "in progress" so it can get confusing about who already started playing. Also it doesn't allow you to do specialized seeding other than random or manual (i.e., it doesn't support location based seeding).

If you want to stick to offline software, but you are tired of Tio crashing, you might want to try out the software we use which is called ALJ Tournament Maker which can be downloaded from here: http://www.adrianljones.com/software.htm It's very similar to Tio, but has NEVER crashed for me ever. After initially hearing the hype about Tio, I downloaded and installed it and it IMMEDIATELY crashed the very first time I ever ran it after a clean install. That pretty much destroyed any faith I had in that software and would never use it personally for that reason. I know other people seem to like it, but it left a pretty nasty first impression. ALJ Tournament Maker does MOST of the stuff Tio does but not everything, but I find it does everything we need.

Yep.  No matter where if you have an android phone you got internet ...  Just need to be shown how to use the tether for free.. Super easy.

But it does look like Im really leaning towards http://binarybeast.com/   But I will revisit Challonge ...  But last time I tested them out they where really lacking in alot of areas.

What we'll probably do for ARK V is use Tio to seed and then input into Challonge manually.

Yes, I know how to do it. I used tethering to download an update patch on one of the consoles at the last G-FLO tournament because it wasn't patched to the latest version.

But I don't like to leave my tethering on because my battery can't handle it for very long and I don't want to have to keep it on the charger. Actually I'm planning to upgrade my phone soon.

the prestige set up that we have on flash drives isn't a glitch its a program made because of the LAN problem it doesn't effect on-line play nor can anyone get banned from xbox live or anywhere else for the use of it.. i got on xboxlive.com and talked to a tech to make sure the program is a non bannable item and he said that unlocking all the items in a private non internet based game offline for the purpose of lanning an event is unbanable and meets no requirement for ban unless it changes copyrights.. witch it does not... im going to try to contact the makes of mw3 and see if they have any info on an update that we may be able to get for the LAN players...

Your flash is not the one i'm talking about. We played on yours. @onezerotwo is his twitter name I believe. I'm talking about the glitched 20th prestige flash drive.
are you aware that im almost positive that oneshot paid them to use our flash drives that were 20th prestige.
