Event -
Monthly Tournaments are held by the staff of OKgamers to get the word out about OKgamers.com - a site for Gamers in Oklahoma to post events and tournaments, get together, and go to find out what's going on in our area.  [  Tired of hearing Oklahoma has nothing to do?  Want to help out the OKgamers cause of spreading the word, so we actually KNOW what's going on around the area?  - Join our staff! Cost -

5$ location cost.  This gets you 10$ in tokens. [Tokens are Funhouse tokens, to spend on DDR, Time Crisis, Soul Calibur, and other fun video games, as well as ticket games they have at that venue.]

Halo 1 - location cost only
GoW - location cost only
SSBM - location cost only

Halo 1 and GoW - this is the first time we've played those games, so we won't have any charge / will get feedback from players present on how to do this if we do it again.

Smash players, pay nothing beyond the location fee, as decided by players (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php?topic=291.0).

What do we do when we charge you?
The location fee keeps our place to have tournaments in business.  If there is a charge beyond a location fee, it goes towards a pot or prize, unless otherwise stated.  If there is a charge beyond the location fee, OKgamers reserves the right to take 1$ to make more flyers that promote the tournaments / events / getting the word out.  All the rest goes towards prizes.

Why charge for some games and not others?  This is how you the gamers have voted.  See below for more.

***NOTE - there are no 'flyer charges' this month - so please donate a 1$ or such through the donation jar, to help us have flyers to promote for next month!

Rules -

Halo 1 was VOTED in with 4v4 - however if everyone present agrees - we'll do 2v2 instead.

WE NEED RULES.  WE NEED HARDWARE.  Please submit a link to rules on this thread, and pre-register the hardware you are bringing on the pre-reg thread linked above.  This is the first time we've played Halo 1 - due to this, if we do not have enough hardware pre-registered for this event by Saturday night - we reserve the right to cancel Halo 1.

Gears of War - 2v2 WE NEED HARDWARE.

GoW Rules - http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php?topic=355.0 - pending?

Super Smash Brothers Melee - 2v2 - This was voted in by 11 of you - so we now rely on you to provide at least 2 setups to be able to have this.  So, we need at least 2 tvs, 2 cubes, 2 games, and 8 controllers to make this work.  If enough hardware isn't brought, we reserve the right to cancel SSBM.  [edited to clearly include 2v2, sorry bout that!]

SSBM Rules - http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php?topic=349.0

I really don't like the idea of having SSB64, SSBM, Halo, and Halo 2 taking up all the game slots in a tournament.  If we're going to do that, let those take the same TV/console setups and let's leave room for at least one different title.

I think we're really limiting Saif's efforts and the full potential of this site if we keep catering to the same group of kids.

Personally, I'd love to see different kids out each month. Maybe we should make an effort to be as diverse as possible so we can get the word out to different groups. As a result, more people might throw their own tournaments around town and we will all benefit from that.

Um it's not required that we bring a television, is it? I can bring a GC, a couple controllers, and SSBM game with all the stuff but I only have one TV and, besides the fact that I'm wimpy and can't carry it :'(, it's small and not very good.

For Halo in the past, we've required it.  For other games - we simply ask that at least TWO to THREE people / total setups get brought - so that we can run a good tournament.

We do ask everyone to bring their own controller, as it keeps things moving quickly.

So - the simple answer is - nothing for Smash / GoW is 'required' beyond controllers, but if you can bring hardware, you never know what will and won't help!  It does seem like TV's are at a premium, and I can bring one or two, but people always complain about mine lol - so let's hope we get some good tv's coming as well heh.

ALSO - For those of you interested in OKgamers.com; from those interested in catching up with what we've been doing lately,  or simply wanting to be around some of the decision makers to see if you want to help out or what you can do?  WE ARE HAVING A MEETING before the tournament Sunday, at the Borders a few miles away - directions, etc here:

Is the Halo1 event still going to take place or not? I plan on going for that, and I suppose I can bring a tv, box, and 1 controller.

: SP March 10, 2007, 05:21:42 PM
hey, you can count on me for one complete setup for melee (tv, cube, smash, etc)...

and i know its too late now, but would we be able to have a cash prize eventually for melee? normally i don't mind, but it's a two hour drive to tulsa for me and i'd at least like to make some of my money back should i win =/ (again, i know this month it cant be done, i just thought i'd throw it out there)
: Re: Tulsa/Jenks - Monthly Tournament [Halo1/Gow/SSBM] - 3/11/2007

SP - no pot.  2+ weeks were given to that vote.  The votes are in.  I'm sorry, no charge / pot for SSBM.  I totally understand where your coming from, but at the same time, if we charge, and you don't win, then you'd be out even more.  So, there ya go - a good side :)

Is the Halo1 event still going to take place or not? I plan on going for that, and I suppose I can bring a tv, box, and 1 controller.

As stated - we reserve the right to cancel tournaments - if not enough hardware is shown through pre-registration...

...The problem with Halo - is so many don't READ well or something, and so I don't always have much on pre-reg.  So, as Halo players make a major contribution to the site's efforts anyway, we'll have the halo tournament no matter what; barring no one showing up / not enough hardware there to support a tournament.

SSBM - I'm pretty sure enough hardware / setups will be there, so it shouldn't be a concern.

GoW - I'm not seeing anything beyond Coolsvilla on that...  So I'm concerned about that one actually happening.

--

Because Pre-reg was opened so late, we will wait till the actual tourny day / a few minutes before registration irl is closed...  To determine whether or not to cancel.  Halo, shouldn't be a problem, SSBM probably - the same thing.  GoW - we'll see.

The halo tournament was a joke. No one showed up  :(

The SSBM tourney was fun and well organized, I didn't even plan on playing in it. I hadn't played smash in like 4 months, I was rusty as ♥♥♥♥♥, as was my partner, but we still managed to snag second place  ;D

Umm, if you even want to call the H1 event a tourney... No one came, I would have gladly LANned somewhere, but everyone was just sitting around. I didn't want to make the trip all the way out to Riverwalk for nothing, so I competed in the SSBM Tourney, which is a game I'm not even good at, nor do I practice at all for. Set up a lan sometime, and I'll play until your heart's content.  ;D
