: Google Chrome
: Furyswrath September 09, 2008, 07:18:05 PM
Well if you didn't know already. Google has there own browser.   called Google Chrome.  And Minus a few bugs (as it is still considered a beta product) I'm really loving it.  Its Quick, uses about a 1/3 less ram (depending on what site you are on)  It manages processes alot better as well as ram.  it has a very nice fluid design. and does not waste any screen space.

Works with okgamers.com and plasmaburn.net very well.   Only thing I'm noticing that I am not liking is how it handles some Java Applets.  You have to install a Beta release candidate of Java in order for some Java applets to work...   and even then are some issues.  I'm sure they will get worked out soon.    So if you are a fan of Firefox.  Try out chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome).  take a look.

Yeah, tried it out and haven't played with it nearly enough, but I did notice the speed which was nice. Also the strange thing was the lack of a "home" button. All in all it is pretty nice, but still going to have to go with my firefox for now.

i happen to like this alot just for the fact that it literally uses like 5 percent of the memory it takes to run firefox and internet explorer and i need all the ram i can get on this makeshift pc that makes me want to cry at night over all i would rate it about 7/10 i would go into details but its 11 at night and that will just sound wierd me ranting.

Home Button is Off By Default.

Goto Option and the General Tab and there is a Check box in the middle of the screen to be able to enable the Home button and put in your desired homepage.

Dude..  Do you have anything good to say about anything on the forums here?  nearly every post with your name on it is totally negative towards the topic at hand.  I mean granted everyone has there own opinion but geez man give some people a glimmer of hope that your not some depressed Eeyore and fee that the world is out to get ya.

I knew they were coming out with one, but I wasn't sure of the time table. I am a web developer so I will give it a try to see how it compares to FF and IE.

Im an avid FF user and have been for quite some time.   and im blown away on how the browser reacts on the PC.  it parses a websites lots faster and FF.  Chrome also has an website Inspector tool that measures how long everything took to load on that site. it can measure how much cpu usage it took, it measures everything.  its a great tool.

Um no. Google Chrome is fast, but there is no way in the world I am switching over until it gets more/better modifications. I simply said, Im staying loyal to FireFox until Google Chrome becomes mainstream. That isn't negative, it's the truth. Now, unless you are somehow trying to antagonize me, then I won't even bother with it.

First it was Mail, Youtube, then Android, now it's this.

Lol you two need to lighten up.  It's just a browser...and yes, Google will one day rule the earth (see picture of space vehicle with Google logo on side).  Fury has mentioned Chrome several times, but I'm such a lazy bastard that I will probably just head down to his desk and have him demo it for me here at work.

I'm not worried about support, because if it's as sweet as people are saying, that will come in time.  I just don't want to have to do any work lol.

Basically, Im saying when it comes out with the mods I want, I will get it. That requires it to go mainstream.

Mostly because I don't have the language recognition skills to be able to. Programming isnt something you just read up on. You have to learn a new language. I don't have the time to learn a new language. Do you have enough time to learn 3 languages at the same time?

Google was the developers SE before any of you norm's got it :)

Google is way more simplistic, and has REVOLUTIONIZED the web world with it's offering.

Anything they have to offer - is worthy of discussion and review, because it's Google - providing SOLID and REDICULOUSLY GOOD products for years now.

Dogging Google just because they've been offering solutions isn't accepted from anyone imo :) lool.  But yea, if you hate Google, you better not even touch anything MS - they've been doing what Google has done, poorly, for many many more years.  If there is random hating on large corp's to be done, make sure your doing it properly and hating in the right order - MS >> Google for that kinda hate, if your gonna do it.

I never had that issue.   We use multiple languages here at work depending on what project we have going.  As old as ADA to Pascal to C# , and even Web based languages such as PHP, Perl, Java.  We even use Java for alot of our Sun applications for Radar monitoring.  So anyone can learn more than 3 Languages if they put there mind to it.  Im probably not the exact example to use as I got my Bachelors and Masters in a little over 4 years. 4 1/2 years to be exact.   While working a Full time 40hr a week job.  So there is plenty of time to learn. Its a matter of do you want to learn.

Maybe for you. I get around 30 min. on the computer. The rest of my internet time is either browsing on my iPhone, or playing Xbox. Baseball, school, and NHS take up a majority of my life.

So I know you spend more than 30 mins on the PC Else you wouldn't be on here all the time.  But Like I said if you wanted to learn it you would prioritize thing and it would happen.

Yeah, tried it out and haven't played with it nearly enough, but I did notice the speed which was nice. Also the strange thing was the lack of a "home" button. All in all it is pretty nice, but still going to have to go with my firefox for now.

Ya without a home button its prety jacked up.

Its a known bug, will be fixed in next release.  It works on certain mice. My Desktop it works fine on, But my laptop I can scroll down but not up. according to the blog there may be a patch tomorrow.

As far as google chrome is concerned, I keep forgeting to download it at home, and the proxy at work wont let me download it.
