Tournament Planning and Hype / Halo 1 LAN/Tournament Brainstorming
« on: October 05, 2009, 12:01:29 pm »
Ok people. Its time to try and do a bit of a Revival.

I found this site -- www.pwnall.com

They are a site dedicated for Halo 1 multiplayer. The do tournaments and all nighters on XBC. The community on there is in the hundreds right now but with some help it could easily grow into the thousands.

What I had planned on doing was holding an Oldschool LAN/Tournament weekend. We setup an entire weekend Fri-Sun for just Halo 1. Maybe some H2 depending on how many people wanna play, but the main game would be Halo 1!

I figure that this will be the easiest when we get the LAN Center open in the new year. But I want to start the planning stages now so we can get a ton of out of state people in for the weekend to LAN some H1.

So, lets get some ideas going.

Equipment:

-8 Original Xboxs
-8 Tube TVs
-8 Copies of Halo CE

-8 Modded Xboxs
-8 Tube TVs
-8 Copies of Halo CE

Now, there are a lot of talk about the New Halo 1 maps coming out, and there is a bunch, but you need a modded xbox to get these working, and alot of people out of town that are planning on coming to this when its scheduled have the modded xboxs to run these, so I figure that we have 8 regular setups and 8 modded setups and that would be good that would allow 4 games of 2 way splitscreen. 2 with regular Halo CE and 2 with the Modded maps.

********SEEDING PROCESS FOR H3 4v4*********

-Players will earn points by participating in online/live events.
-We will giving the points to the individuals on the team, not the team as a whole. We are doing this because of the lack of consistency of teams sticking together.
-We will add all the players, on one teams, points together to give a grand total and then seed the team by that total.
-We will then take the team with the most points and put them in the bracket against the team with the least amount of points, then the team with the second most points and put them against the team with the second least amount of points so on and so forth.
-Any teams that do not have any points at a live event will be seeded in after all the other teams are seeded accordingly.

********Points System*********
-This will be used for all games during the span of the season.

Site Improvements & News / Getting OKGamers on Top - Fresh Ideas
« on: September 28, 2009, 02:29:35 pm »
Ok, so here is what I would like to propose.

Put simply - We need more consistent, local, traffic to this site.

I know that everyone knows and wants to see this happen and I am sure there is stuff being done about that but I think that we should really try and push OKGamers out into the community. I knw that this community has many different connections through alot of people and they arent being used. I know that everyone wants this site and community to grow tenfold and be the central place for Oklahoma gamers to go. That is why I wanted to start this thread.

-I think that we really need to push more online advertising, I know that this usually costs money, but if we could find other sites that are willing to just trade advertising spots that would help a bunch. Plus the free advertisment such as Myspace, Twitter, Facebook etc... I also think that there should be new forums signatures that people can put on their forum accounts on all their different sites, like MLG, PureTalentGaming, HaloArena, etc...

-Local advertising in OKC and Tulsa. If we got a truly dedicated street team for both citys that once every 2 weeks or so took more flyers to the local GameStops, Wal-Marts, Targets, or really any place in town that will let you put some flyers in their store.

-Broadtexter would be a great way to get OKGamers name even more known. HxC uses Broadtexter and it has helped tremendously with getting out info on our Tournaments and such. If properly advertised it would be insanely successful. The wonderful thing about this is that it is totally FREE!

All of these things are achievable and easy ways to advertise, and I know that these kinds of things are discussed at the OKGamers meetings in Tulsa but, and with all due respect, I dont see much being done to help push OKGamers into the community and I and HxC would like to help make OKGamers bigger and better for everyone in Oklahoma.

So with all of this said, lets gather up some really easy affordable ideas and get the ball rolling!

General Chat / Montage Idea
« on: September 08, 2009, 01:39:40 pm »
Ok guys its Raider, after Dallas me and hypnotic were put up on youtube of us trash talking each other. And it gave me an idea. We should get any crazy trash talk from Oklahoma players from all games and make a montage out of it. We could use it as advertisement and stuff, people love that kind of stuff, it shows that we have fun here in Oklahoma

Thoughts?

Equipment:
We will be providing 16 Viewsonic TVs and at least 8 360s. Every 4v4 team NEEDS to bring their own setups (4 TVs, 4 Boxes, 4 Halo 3 copies). Everyone also needs to bring their own controllers, preferably wired but we arent going to say you cant play with wireless. Also know that you WILL NOT be playing on your setups throughout the entire tournament, you will play on it but not every time. That also means that people will be playing on your equipment so make sure its marked. Now, teams that are strictly playing in the 2v2 event and thats all, we just need you to bring 2 360s, and 2 Copies of H3 for them. We will use 8 of our Viewsonics for the 2v2.

Responsibility:
HxC will not be responsible for anyones equipment but our own. We suggest marking your equipment with your name somehow, whether that be tape and just your name on the tape or a sticker of some sort. However you want to do it, as long as you know its your.

Teams with Totaled Points(So Far):
1. Hyped: 4800
2. Check Please: 4600
3. Out of the Shade: 4400
4. The Quitters: 3400
