As OKgamers has done for years, we need to "circle the wagons", sit down, and discuss how we want to go into 2009 - planning, theme discussion, etc.
Check out last years thread.
First off - I like to review 08. Part of that and planning for 09 was started here:
http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php?topic=1662.0Skip down to agenda for more...
WHEN - Sunday, January 18th, 2009 - 1pm to 6pm
WHERE: Downtown Joe Momma's Pizza
112 S. Elgin
Tulsa, OK 74120
WHO:
Staff - as much of what we decide in this meeting will be carried out by staff, and affect them.
Anyone interested in OKgamers, and helping us guide where we are going.
New to the site? This is a great way to find out what goes on behind the scenes, and how to get more involved.
NOTE - This is a "HALOEZ FREE ZONE"; we understand you love your game, but this is not a "push your game needing more events" meeting. This is about OKgamers - the site and our efforts, not a pitch your event meeting.
Not in the Tulsa area and can't make it? We'll do our best to have it streamed online for out of towners. Check this thread for a link to the broadcast. Joe Momma's has wireless so we'll do our best.
Fair warning - we run this with a professional or business attitude. Fun? Sure. But we keep things on track as we rarely do these, and need to be productive.
AGENDA:
1pm - Settle in, order food and get past introductions.
1:15pm - A brief history of OKgamers, and what we are currently doing
1:30pm - Start the meeting points
5pm - finish up. If we have alot to discuss, and people interested in going longer, we may. It's all about getting the points covered.
5:30pm - 6pm - "Action 30" - anyone with a laptop helps us carry out whatever changes and edits we need to carry out on the site. We finalize the notes, create an action list, and get some quick action on changes.
Points to cover:
Comparing Growth - double the community, traffic well over triple? Improvements and things not put into practice. What we did right and where we went wrong, along with what we did about it. Etc, etc. How we can avoid such things in the future as well.
Choosing a path - I'm big on 'themes', or goals for a year - 08 was clarification - I think we did some. I think we need to accomplish that goal even more, but by pushing for "Gamers taking ownership of their communities" - and giving them the tools to do that? Will be 2 birds with one stone, etc.
2009 - What do we change from last year.
2009 - What we are doing, where are we going, how do we get there?
2009 - Theme for the year, how to incorporate that in our actions.
General improvements:
Video - for all of 08, what did we have? For 09 - what are we striving for?
Street Crew - a real need to step this up, and bring it back to the forefront.
Promotion reposting - organizing and developing VC options?
Staff:
- Tournament thread of 09 - one thread for the year to follow for various events vs new threads each time. Unless 3 day con level, most events don't need it's own thread, etc. Let's staff subscribe and follow one thread.
Tournament Business Sheet:
- Concept of developing clear cut "we give, volunteers are rewarded" concepts with businesses. Help clarify irl promo needs, event to event neccessities, etc.
OKgamers.com Official Print Resources:
- Establish clear section for these resources on Media? It's own page?
- Generic Flyer / Flyers for events? Flyer with several blank lines and info on other common events and OKgamers 'plug'
- Generic Resource developments - "you are here / welcome" signs, add in signup sheeet, volunteer / staff sign offs, event clarification.
-
OKgamers.com - Marketing
- OKgamers 09 shirts - one design, multiple runs? Different designs, different runs?
- Dumbing it down - need for a "What you need to know" page? ("Gamer Definition" lol, Gist on OKG, Staff/volunteering, flyers=life, tourny rules, event thread description)
- Ways to encourage / create syndication of our events to other sites? Staff position, volunteering, etc? ( )
If time -
Review last meetings notes -
