Rare is it that any group reviews the decision to change a fundamental in it's core.
OKgamers has maintained a constant 'upwards motion' over the last few years, improving and adding onto what we offer gamers in the Oklahoma area. From improved forums, more events, free entry and sponsorship of events, to our biggest contribution, helping students get volunteer hours for their time spent with OKgamers events.
However, the system that allows for volunteering opportunities in Tulsa will soon be charging for use. This brings us to a serious question - do we stop using the service, and take a serious step backwards, or start charging for some events we throw and start "making money" off select events to pay for bills and our time.
Add in the "Getting Started" page concept, as well as the need to finish out our censor list, and it's going to be an important meeting.
passed,
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
"Senior staff" - those who have helped with 5 large events or more, or are founders. (monthlies count as half lol)
Staff - just joined or long term, your input is always valued.
Gamers - who want to help shape OKgamers future. We welcome input from anyone concerned enough to show up, and participate...
...FAIR WARNING - This is a MEETING, and thus a business environment. It's ran along loose parliamentary procedure - meaning Saif sets as a form of "Chairman" starting topics and moderating, while those present act as 'the board', discussing and weighing topics at hand.
OFF TOPIC chatter / Haloez / etc - not tolerated, especially at such an important meeting. This is "all business" time.

YES, zach work on content
- I think this is a concept that will be approved of, I simply want to 'think it through', get feedback, etc
OKgamers - the Volunteer Central charge issue. Do we continue?
-- Yes - we have to start throwing at least a few events where we charge for OKgamers sake.Potential bills
No more VC = Saif and others seriously being let down. We have less to offer businesses, and cannot continue to help our college student volunteers get the credit they deserve. While it's probably not "The end of OKgamers" - it feels like the potential start of the end to me.
Charging for events = if we start charging money to take care of one bill, we should expand enough to take care of any bills, and consider having any event not started by a business or event - be one where staff is paid?
- Review of potential bills
volunteering
hosting
storage
- Review of potential savings / goals / options to build up funds for future issues

3 Flyer runs
- Where to start, where to end - what basis do we charge on? Non-requested, gamer driven only? The reverse? All? Review realities of any / all that panning out.
Create a form for business
We can be sponsored OR charge the Company
- Discussion on effects on attendance? End up just starving gamers? CO naysayers, etc.
New motion have current inactive staff changed to supporter
Tighten up staff responsibilities and code of conduct
- Changes in legal status - makes things easier or harder?
RESEARCH!!! tax issues

ZERO TOLERANCE NO HATE ON BUSINESSES AND NO SELF PROMOTION ON ANOTHER BUSINESSES THREAD
Censorship - completing the list, and review of current replacements. "I <3 carebears" lol
OKgamers - "How to Help" adding in / focusing on clarifying the power and need of gamers asking businesses / events to have us officially work with them. Helpin to prove value of our presence and potential increase in effectiveness, and fun of event.

YES

-- If there's time left:
Previous meeting - review of notes
Open Floor - any concerns not discussed and brought up go here.
random polls?
--
It's an important step for OKgamers. While not all fun and games, THIS meeting will seriously determine where we "go from here".
If anyone is interested in being the 'notes taker' we could of course use it, please let us know here if you can.
Not showing up? This thread is not intended for you to voice your opinion on it, so please
do not post comments, thoughts, etc. Mean? We only allow online staff in the staff forum to really debate / change / etc how we think - else experience shows random chatter on a forum doesn't ever seem to solve much of the larger concerns. HOWEVER - after the meeting has
started you may post your comments, thoughts, etc - and we'll be able to review them then. Post anything other than questions about the event, etc, before 1pm Saturday, and it'll just be deleted.
