Ok so if you dont know there is a h2 gamebattles ladder for spring 2008 that is up and running, right now there are only 15? teams or so actually having played matches but like 350 who have yet to play a match so there are quite a few teams  theoretically.

I am starting this thread to see if anyone is interested in playing in the new ladder for h2.

PS if your bad stay off my thread (you know who you are, dont kid yourself)

Thread Archives / Dungeons and Dragons Co-Creator dies at age 69
« on: March 04, 2008, 11:03:42 pm »
Got this off the AP wire

MILWAUKEE - Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among teenage boys, and eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.

Gygax always enjoyed hearing from the game's legion of devoted fans, many of whom would stop by the family's home in Lake Geneva, about 55 miles southwest of Milwaukee, his wife said. Despite his declining health, he hosted weekly games of Dungeons & Dragons as recently as January, she said.

"It really meant a lot to him to hear from people from over the years about how he helped them become a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman, what he gave them," Gail Gygax said. "He really enjoyed that."

Dungeons & Dragons players create fictional characters and carry out their adventures with the help of complicated rules. The quintessential geek pastime, it spawned a wealth of copycat games and later inspired a whole genre of computer games that's still growing in popularity.

Born Ernest Gary Gygax, he grew up in Chicago and moved to Lake Geneva at the age of 8. Gygax's father, a Swiss immigrant who played violin in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, read fantasy books to his only son and hooked him on the genre, Gail Gygax said.

Gygax dropped out of high school but took anthropology classes at the University of Chicago for a while, she said. He was working as an insurance underwriter in the 1960s, when he began playing war-themed board games.

But Gygax wanted to create a game that involved more fantasy. To free up time to work on that, he left the insurance business and became a shoe repairman, she said.

Gygax also was a prolific writer and wrote dozens of fantasy books, including the Greyhawk series of adventure novels.

Gary Sandelin, 32, a Manhattan attorney, said his weekly Dungeons & Dragons game will be a bit sadder on Wednesday night because of Gygax's passing. The beauty of the game is that it's never quite the same, he said.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Besides his wife, Gygax is survived by six children.

Thread Archives / OKC meeting set 2-4-08 8pm IHOP in Bricktown
« on: January 29, 2008, 12:39:25 am »
MEETING SET FO 2-4-08 IHOP IN BRICKTOWN AT 8 PM, IF YOU NEED TRANSPORTATION LET US KNOW ASAP

Ok so this time we are going to kind of follow suit with the overall planning meeting for okgamers as a whole but try and focus specifically what OKC as a community is going to do this year.

Things i would like to cover at the meeting

  • 1. Events that we are wanting to hold (ie. monthlies, or larger events like the 300 man tourney)
  • 2. Roles for everyone within the community and dividng the work tasks evenly among people to make sure its all getting done
  • 3. I would like to sit down with a calendar and set some tenative dates to shoot for, for events
  • 4. Also want to go over everything we covered at the meeting in Tulsa since it will directly effect us all

Now i need my OKC poeple to start sounding off as to when we want to do this, i know personally im available every monday and tuesday as those are my days off.....I would like to get some response so that we can set a date within the week

Also i just figured IHOP in bricktown again since its a highly central location for everyone

Thank you my minions,

Thread Archives / H2 MUCH?
« on: January 28, 2008, 06:36:15 pm »
So i was driving home today and was wondering if there would be enough people on the forums that might be interested in getting together a h2 lan, just for fun i mean we can play for money if you wish but i just want to get some people together and have a good time

if there is enough people ill set it up on a day we can all agree on (tulsa or okc ill travel to where ever)

Anyone would be welcome but i would like to hear from some of the people who set the standard in h2 from the forums (you know who you are no need to brag)

Anyways just an idea

29
No i am not giving money away but just read on and i think you will find it useful

As some of you know since the fall of H2, saddest day of my life, I have more or less stepped back from the gaming community and have basically been operating in the background to lay the foundation for some upcoming events.

This is nothing against anyone personally or the site i just dont have a game right now that i have any interest in playing competitively (yes that is a direct reference to my hate for h3)  ;D

Now to the good part, or at least i thought so.................Although i have no desire to compete currently i do still want to help okgamers grow and expand, i have ran my share of tourneys, held events, ran events, set them up, tore them down, posted them in the forum, recruited people to play and work these events, and in turn been invited by several people (even outside of oklahoma) to run tourneys.....

That being said i have a wealth of knowledge experience, and most importantly, the hardware needed to host just about any event that oklahoma can put together..........

Here in lies my offer, i am officially offering myself up to be an okgamers.com whore to be used as anyone sees fit..........im meeting with a group of guys from okc tomorrow night to help them get up and running and would be absolutely esatic to do that for anyone of you on this site

So, you need advice, help, hardware, or absolutely anything at all please please please just ask bc i will be more than happy to offer my services in any for that i can

Love,
TH3 R3LIGION

OK guys this is your friendly neighborhood r3ligion here and I need to get some of the community leaders from this area for a sit down meeting to discuss plans for '08, these include locals that you are wanting to host, the 300 man tourney in tulsa, and i have also heard rumblings of a large tourney wanted to be thrown in this area, well i have good news i have enough equipment to lan like 96 boxes so we are good there, what i need is for some people to step up and show me you want to make OKC the hotbed for okgamers.com

ALSO THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, I NEED TO HAVE A MEETING WITH HYPNOTIC AND TNIAS AND ANYONE ELSE THATS INTERESTED IN STAFF THIS FRIDAY IF POSSIBLE
