Re-vamp!
« on: April 28, 2010, 05:52:16 pm »
hey X_A, what are the chances of somebody giving okgamers.com a makeover?  A new sexy site that is pleasant to look at would be great! If nothing else just change the OU red!

lol, I didn't choose the red because it was OU ish, simply because it wasn't blue - :)  Aka, every tech site ever, blah.

Ironic you bring this up though, one 3.0 design already finished, and in the Supporters forum for review now.  We are looking at launching new OKgamers as soon as we have content, and code revisions done.

...of course we could use some help with re-writing content, and you know, de-ranting the site.  I did write ALL the content sadly :(  So, if anyone wants to help, let us know!

In the meantime yes, we are working on a revamp literally right now, but sorry, I doubt RED will go anywhere :)

I can write if you absolutely need someone to, but its not something I enjoy, just something that I'm pretty good at

There are programming things we need - but in order to get into all that - you'd really need to be a supporter at that point.  The level of commitment would be more than just a passing afternoon kinda deal, with testing etc afterall ;)  We do keep all the "we need this" stuff in the Supporter forums as well, another reason I point that out.

Site design revamp - semi-stalled as everyone on TO seem to be busy now, and I'm getting more and more Tokyo in Tulsa bogged down :)

I'd love to have the new design up before TnT - but not sure that'll happen.  Also got all the Road to Supercon stuff that needs to be done.

OHH - write.  lol.

Sorry, been a interesting day.  Writing - same thing though.  Even if it's not 'testing the programming' - it's "tweaking the meaning of the content to make sure we are clear", etc.  However, I'm more likely to have someone just spot help here and there with writing...

...the problem is - the whole site needs a writers touch -_-;;  We've got 2 writers in the TO's - but neither seem to get to the writing we've lined out in the staff forums, etc.

oh. well i grew up with an English teacher for a mom, who demanded that she read every paper i wrote ever and critique it with me. so if you need someone to grade your homework i can do that too

also could you move the site clock forward. im semi-ocd and it bothers me

Look Lemme Lay this out. :)

If we can for sure have 100% Support for Writters ..

I Already know we have a new "Pending" layout for the front page.

We have those 2 things.  I Swear I will do every bit of the coding and stick with it :)  Its hard to be motivated to do something when you know the thought process may fail.

I hate coding stuff knowing that if the user of the code, dont provide the means to use it, its a real downer for me, and I loose interest in making the project better.  Im weird.. but thats how I work.

I Work all my Projects at work that way.  I Make sure I have all the Tools and Dedication Prior to writing several thousand lines of code.   Then if the project fails its my fault and no one else.

Writers + Skin = I will code it all and make it awesome, and maintain it to keep in check with Web Standards and technology.
