Tulsa - Super Smash Bros Brawl - who wants to throw down?
« on: March 10, 2008, 07:59:56 am »

Seriously guys.  I know the gamestops, game crazys, and maybe even Best Buys?!  Were all packed out.   I know people play this game.  Why don't we have a COMMUNITY? Norman has one.  Plenty of other cities...

...can Tulsa just NOT GET IT TOGETHER?!@

I'm halfway even tempted to start the Funhouse tournaments up again.  Just to see competition increased.  A community maybe started.  Seriously.  What do I have to do here?

Also.  I've officially played my first 2 human online opponents.  I beat both of them.(And who ever told me Wolf was the same as fox? CAN GO DIG A HOLE!@#  HES NOT THE SAME!  And even first time playing, I still beat him ;) heh.)  I'm on a high right now guys...  Let's keep this going!

And finally - Minicon - will have a Brawl tournament.  Who's game eh?

Anyway, I went to Hana-con, and the Riverside Gamestop.  I've handed out flyers to SSBB specific people.  Let's get this going guys - spread the word, let's get a REAL community going? Eh? Maybe now?

What is different here from Norman is there like an over flow of suburban society or something?  What is it they do that we don't

I can only assume -

It's a college town, so there's more active 'kids' and students getting together and organizing.

They are closer to TX - and that gives them a travelling edge.

And they had someone that cared about the game, and rallied people.  I kinda did that for SC3 and SSBM with the monthlies - and I'd do it again if we could get 10 to 20 ACTIVE SSBB players showing up, and getting better.  Seriously, this is a fun game, we should have Tulsa represent dang it!

As an avid Melee player (I once won $100 dollars at a tournament in Florida, while on vacation), I would love to see a highly active Smash Bros. Community. Brawl has really impressed me, and I it's definitely a game I plan to take the time to master.

Funhouse tournaments would be an excellent idea, especially since I now know my way around Jenks, courtesy of Tulsa Tech.

On Sunday I had a 9 hour power session with 6 friend rotating in and out. Yesterday we did it again, only for 5 hours after school until my parents asked everyone to leave, since it was 11 at night. I don't think they like me taking the big screen TV over. I seriously haven't played a game quite like this since Melee.

Let's do this.

I'll send you my Wii code once I get my router fixed.

Punish3r I would love to play you.  I have to be beaten to get better.  I cant buy brwl yet.  It sounds like we have to heavily target TU.  Do we have any ppl attending that school here?

Oh, I was just saying since norman is a college town maybe we should do things that might better target Smash players in colleges

I understand what mean. I think it's a good idea, most of my college friends are avid gamers.

I haven't seen this topic before.

Anyway, I don't think anybody here can beat my Yoshi. I only know a select few from the intarweb who have. I'm kinda joking, kinda not.

HMMM well I traded mine in for Mario Kart :) but I might eventually get it again, I just don't have anyone to play with really so I drop interest. My wife and I can play Mario Kart, but I'd be willing to train for some Brawl on Saturday or Sundays if someone wanted to make a meetup or something.

Also do you guys play with the GCN controller? I played with the Wiimote+chuck and it wasn't the best. Also I noticed from the smashboard wiki that some moves are not able to be pulled off without it.
GT: Eighty8keyes Haloez and anything else I might be playing.
