Looking to Start up a Local PC Gamer Clan. Err32
« on: September 03, 2008, 07:27:23 pm »
Being the domain name whore I am. can i say whore in that context?  ohh well mods will catch me if I cant.  Anyways Ive sat and thought and thought ... and thought some more on this.   Seeing how I completely found out how I totally such major booty on console games :)) I decided to keep doing what I know best how to do. PC Games (Im just not gonna upgrade every 6 months if i cant play I cant play LOL)  but id like to Start up a Local Oklahoma PC Clan and if there is interest allow Console gamers in as well.  And id be looking at having Plasma Burn Sponsor teams in competitions.  Sponsoring would all be pending next weeks LLC meeting with Big Cliffs Consulting who will be buying Plasma Burn. (Family Owned :) )

But if anyone is interested Reply back here.  PM me, whatever you choose.

PC games we are looking at are

UT3
UT2004
Q3A
BF2142
BF2

And Maybe the CoD games if there is interest.  The Clan tag will be err32    (Error 32)  And website will be www.err32.net

Wow. Something I can actually do. I'm down for UT2004 (I'm not that good mind you, but I do really enjoy it).

Can't wait for you to get the site up, so far it just gives the index page. So will there be dedicated servers for this or how will it work? I'm not too familiar on how those things are done.

Well it all depends on the Interest i get.  I dont wanna do a ton of effort and only get 2 people.  Know what I mean?   But Yea Myself and darkdisk  are for sure.  But Id like to get a nice size team together.  One to where we can have several things going on at once.

and yes, I will buy a dedicated server if we have enough people. I think I have enough sponsorship that we can pull that off.

Just to drop some stats I just made. Played some UT2004 and was on a Urban Sniper map of some kind and I won the match 31 to 12 to 8 to 3 I believe.
GT: Eighty8keyes Haloez and anything else I might be playing.

I was think about this after I got to work and I have a few questions Fury... if this takes off like you hope and I know a few ppl that might want in..

What would the Clan colors be...
What sort of ranking system would be used to rate the clan players...
Who do you have desiggning everything...
Would there be dues? A good clan has some sort of dues to run things...
Would there be bages? I'D cards? Ect....

Ill add more later...

I'd think the "dues" issue would be dependent upon whether or not we had people that were serious enough that they'd be willing to practice and enter tournaments.  Getting together for fun is one thing, starting a Clan for purposes of competition is quite another.  As far as the FPS genre, I suggest decided on one MAIN game first and then going from there.  I would assume this would be based on popularity and skill base (i.e. people tend to play what they're good at).  Personally, I can adapt to any FPS, given time.

I haven't been a part of a Clan in ages; I look forward to it!

You do have a very good point dd1sk, but I have yet to meet a gamer on this site that isn't serious and slip doesn't count he acts but from what I know doesn't do... sorry if I make ya mad slip...
And as far as serious clan gamers... I know a few that would love to have a clan close to them to join...

So for my vote or preference, I say stick with FPS.  My ranking as far as tournament potential and interest:

1. BF 2142 / COD4 - highly tactical and very much team based
2. UT2004 - more room for lone wolf players, not sure on how many tournaments are ongoing, Onslaught is megafun
3. Q3A - very rough for inexperienced players, still a ton of fun but individual skill level requirement is HIGH, CTF and Clan Arena somewhat team based

I would love for anyone who chimes in to place their votes/preferences in order (any genre) and maybe give a little info about why you think the clan should concentrate on that particular game.
