Tulsa - DownTown Joe Momma's first Monthly; what game? - 11/08/08
« on: September 25, 2008, 03:52:05 am »

Joe Momma's downtown location is opening up late October!  As a result, they can now start hosting Monthly events!  What game? Well that's up to you guys via the poll above!

While they are open to H3 or another FPS reoccuring, I've stated that numbers have been too low on hardware responses for me to feel comfortable doing that without healthy poll results; so we'll just go with whatever else wins each month, etc if H3 or a FPS get's low hardware response.

Like all tournaments OKgamers organizes for gaming communities - we'll need hardware.  Fighting games need at least 3 to 4 setups, shooters need a minimum of 8, GH3 at least 4, etc.  While the poll will probably be the final word, hardware postings will help sway things.

HALO/FPS PLAYERS - what's healthy?  30+ votes for the winning type, and at least 8 to 16 people saying they can bring hardware - as in full setups.  If Halo anything wins with 20 votes, and the next one has 18, we'll go with the next one.  Simply put - all FPS's have had low results in Tulsa, so I don't want to organize an event and have the low hardware affect another event.

SSBB / SC4 - the monthlies at FH won't be going away - so you've already got your game showing up.  However - you want another?  We'd do it if you can win the poll!

Please - only vote for games you'd come to for a tournament!  And, if you have a setup you can bring, let us know!

Games - for consideration came this poll - http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php?topic=1276.0

For games to be added, they need 3 recommendations on this thread.

Yes - this will be a volunteering opportunity, and I'll be putting it up on Volunteer Central!

In the end? Vote, you've got 2 weeks.  FPS's - in the Tulsa area after H3 came out, getting hardware has always been a problem.  I was the one to suggest your game for consideration, but once again, we've got to have enough hardware to support the tournament.  Even if a game is voted in and has plenty of promises of hardware - if we don't have enough hardware actually show up, we'll change the format - say 4v4 to 2v2, etc.

Nah - they are a resturant downtown.  However, they had gaming in mind in development, so they have a big back room - think their entire current 61st store minus about 8 feet with plenty of seating and power, and they want to host tournaments there monthly!

Evidently the finished theme will also include retro elements, so old school games are potentially being planned in for random nightly events.  There's a guy that saw that Donkey Kong tournament documentary evidently - and is wanting to have one of those there at some point as well.  So - should be good times!

Awesome. Is this like an expansion or did they move there? Doesn't really matter to me, I'm just curious.

Also, you should probably know what games I voted for. >_>

Meh, it's on there because it got votes last time - sure it was the only SC we had at the time - but until it zero's out, I figured I'd include it.

Speaking of zeros - I love how the GoW community are content to create chat threads, spawning drama and argue it out on who could be the best, instead of utilizing resources like this potential tournament and rallying their support.  FPS's make no sense to me.

Anyway - at this rate a fighter or rhythm will win.  I'm serious about FPS's needing 30+ and 8 hardware promises at least - I've had too many FPS events blow up in my face with zero to insufficient hardware in Tulsa in the last 6 months, so they've got to really step up if I'm going to organize an event for them personally.

Well, when the game isn't voted in and then they take notice, hopefully they'll pull themselves together. =/

And I'm super surprised that I'm not the only one that voted for Doa. O_O

Well, things only really happen with communication.  If they can't communicate what they want through the proper and easy channels - we've done what we can.

DOA - probably you, me and Geoff?

Glad to hear that Joe mama's will be holding more tournaments in the future! Grats to them!

Okay, I SWARE lol, that I reviewed their dates and they only had a 7th up when I checked -_-

Well, and a non-competing game might always get voted in as well.  Dunno.  In the end, we'll do what the poll says, and of course what we can get hardware for.
