FIGHTING GAMERS - OKgamers volunteers work with 2 types of events.
1 - We work with businesses to throw successful events.
2 - We throw events for the gaming communities that exist in OK, ask for events, and then show up and support them.
WHY? Because OKgamers.com is a resource - and without promotion and content - aka events, there isn't much of a point. And? When we throw events for your community, those communities help us spread the word about OKgamers.com - the REAL reason we do anything, to promote the site as a resource and it's existence period.
(Simple cycle we jumpstart - the more people who know about OKgamers.com, and talk about it, the more useful a resource it is as people post, etc; which in turn, gets more people to pay attention as it becomes more useful, etc.)
...however. Throwing an event for a 'dead game' - or one that has no community locally to attend and help with hardware, etc - doesn't help us at all. Doesn't help businesses we consult with. No fun.
SO - we'll determine what "has a community" - by this poll for 2010.
March. April. June. August. All have events, FOR SURE in them already. What FIGHTING GAMES have spots - depend on you.How many votes do a game need? We'll take the top 3 games in the poll as advisement that you guys care, and add them to events coming up. HOWEVER - if the game doesn't have at least 8 votes, we'll take it as a consideration, not a guaranteed game.
Is your fighting game not in the poll? If it's a FIGHTING GAME and has 3 requests for it on the thread, and we'll add it. (Request as in "Please add Soul Calibur 2 on ps2", etc.)
What is the cost for these events?Usually - 5$ pot. However, some communities perfer more, we'll explore that AFTER we determine what games we'll work with. (Tekken, SF4 - if you say we need to charge more we can, we'll discuss that after this.)
Complaints we won't care about:"
Why does Smash & SF4 get a pass?" - They consistently have strong attendance, they are not in question.
"
I didn't have an account to vote with" - they are free, and take a valid email and a minute to sign up.
"
What about new games" - they always get their chance, we are talking current games.
"
You don't play on my console" - Due to tournament standards we follow the national community lead on console use.
"
Where is HALOEZ!" - FPS is a whole other mess, we are only concerned about fighting game tournaments in this poll.
"
Where are the card games / board games / etc" - once again, this is only for fighting games on consoles. You want events for your game - we are listening in the chat, local players, and tournament planning forums
You've got 2 weeks to voice your opinion. No excuses
