FIGHTING GAMERS - OKgamers volunteers work with 2 types of events.
1 - We work with businesses to throw successful events.
2 - We throw events for the gaming communities that exist in OK, ask for events, and then show up and support them.

WHY?  Because OKgamers.com is a resource - and without promotion and content - aka events, there isn't much of a point.  And?  When we throw events for your community, those communities help us spread the word about OKgamers.com - the REAL reason we do anything, to promote the site as a resource and it's existence period.

(Simple cycle we jumpstart - the more people who know about OKgamers.com, and talk about it, the more useful a resource it is as people post, etc; which in turn, gets more people to pay attention as it becomes more useful, etc.)

...however.  Throwing an event for a 'dead game' - or one that has no community locally to attend and help with hardware, etc - doesn't help us at all.  Doesn't help businesses we consult with.  No fun.

SO - we'll determine what "has a community" - by this poll for 2010.

March.  April.  June.  August.  All have events, FOR SURE in them already.  What FIGHTING GAMES have spots - depend on you.

How many votes do a game need?
We'll take the top 3 games in the poll as advisement that you guys care, and add them to events coming up.  HOWEVER - if the game doesn't have at least 8 votes, we'll take it as a consideration, not a guaranteed game.

Is your fighting game not in the poll?
If it's a FIGHTING GAME and has 3 requests for it on the thread, and we'll add it.  (Request as in "Please add Soul Calibur 2 on ps2", etc.)

What is the cost for these events?
Usually - 5$ pot.  However, some communities perfer more, we'll explore that AFTER we determine what games we'll work with.  (Tekken, SF4 - if you say we need to charge more we can, we'll discuss that after this.)

Complaints we won't care about:
"Why does Smash & SF4 get a pass?" - They consistently have strong attendance, they are not in question.
"I didn't have an account to vote with" - they are free, and take a valid email and a minute to sign up.
"What about new games" - they always get their chance, we are talking current games.
"You don't play on my console" - Due to tournament standards we follow the national community lead on console use.
"Where is HALOEZ!" - FPS is a whole other mess, we are only concerned about fighting game tournaments in this poll.
"Where are the card games / board games / etc" - once again, this is only for fighting games on consoles.  You want events for your game - we are listening in the chat, local players, and tournament planning forums :)

You've got 2 weeks to voice your opinion.  No excuses :)

This poll needs UFC 2010 and Street Fighter HDR.

TVC as well

The difference between a liberal and a conservative is that the liberal will ask you to vote republican while a conservative gives facts and asks for you to decide

I second TvC. I semi-second HDR only because I doubt it'd have a large turnout esp. consistently.

i think tvc could possibly have a respectable turnout (sometime relatively soon) because of its apparent (never actually played) ease of learning. however i think the turnout would be even better if it was for something besides the wii

I was given the impression that the tourny community was on 360 - if that's wrong, then we need to address that, let me know.

The true MVC2 community would be on Dreamcast since it is arcade perfect.

Generally speaking though, the new version of MVC2 is played on whatever system SFIV/SSFIV is held on.  For Evo2k(national), that is PS3.  This is mainly because the Evo board has purchased PS3s for Evo2k8 Tekken 5 DR.  Smaller tournaments host it on 360s because they don't have a PS3.

I recommend that you do ps3/360 because you really want to get whatever hardware people can bring.

And while in a perfect world that would work - PAD USERS mess that up lol.

Let's say we mix consoles for an event.  Player A has been on 360 the entire time, and Player B on PS3 - now they are up to fight each other.  Both prefer to stick with same console they've been winning on...

...Cannot mix consoles.  If it was up to joystick users - a stick is a stick, and people often buy 2 or have one custom made with both inputs to avoid the issue.  The good news is there IS a 360 pad adapter for the PS3 - so those that are crazy enough to love it, can get it :)

And like I said - it's not about what I think.  What OKgamers thinks, etc.  It's what is the National community STANDARD - because that is what you need to adhere to so your local competition can travel, and the travelling competition can trust in OKgamers to have solid, unilateral rules.

Sorry guys - HARDWARE stays attached to GAME.

Well even if you don't want to mix consoles, Evo will be hosting MVC2 on ps3 if it wins the community vote.  There are no 360s at Evo.
