Soul Calibur rules - http://www.okgamers.com/pdf/sc4-rules.pdf (http://www.okgamers.com/pdf/sc4-rules.pdf)

As always, OKgamers finds sponsors and locations for you the gamers to come out and have a good time, but we will need your help with hardware and spreading the word about the event!  We'll be looking for hardware support on most of the games!  (Smash and Halo definitely!)

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
CASH - to enter the event, tournaments, for any food like GrillaRay's downstairs or their snacks, etc.
YOUR OWN CONTROLLER - We seriously suggest you bring your own controllers.  Gamers may let you borrow theirs, but it's always best to bring your own - less concern about your performance as well.
HARDWARE - if you can help by bringing hardware, this helps the event run faster.  OKgamers is facilitating the event, TCC is the venue sponsor, but this is all community driven - thus it's a "potluck community effort" - aka, we all bring our hardware to help out!

HARDWARE - OKgamers ORGANIZES events - in the end, we are just gamers like yourself, trying to promote a free resource, OKgamers.com.  We really do RELY on the LOCAL COMMUNITY especially, to help us provide hardware for this event.

THE TRADE OFF - Local players get cheap events, and little to no travel expense, all with quality competition coming to you...  All you have to do to aid in this is help the event have hardware for both you and the travelling competitors to play on!

What do you mean by Hardware/A Setup:
A "Setup" consists of a TV, console, game, controllers if possible and save data.  TV - 19" or above, tube preferably for some fighting games, and remote if you can't change to input on the front.  SSF / SC / Tekken and SSBB - FULLY UNLOCKED (SF = all available, SSBB 'more rules' and all 35 characters, and levels, etc), and any controllers would be appreciated, however we encourage people to bring their own.  And of course, the game, console and any required cables.

Can't bring hardware?  While ANYTHING can help, we also understand if you cannot.  Pre-reg will help show what hardware is coming, encourage those friends that CAN bring hardware, that they do so and keep an eye on pre-reg to know see what's showing up!

MORE HARDWARE = FASTER TOURNAMENT.
MORE HARDWARE = NO SUCH THING AS "too many tournament attendees".

YOU KNOW US - we run these for promotion of OKgamers - so we run a tight ship to keep everyone happy.
We reserve the right on ANY game to make on the spot changes to the tournament rules, such as a change to Single Elimination if there is not enough hardware, or too many people show up ["Too many" only determined by us not having the hardware brought to meet the demand in the time we have - be sure you understand that].  We have to be done no matter what around 7pm as TCC has it's rules too, thus the concern.
 - Have we before - yes, rarely.
 - Will we change?  Only if we HAVE to.  Hardware and you determine that.  (Remember traveling gamers don't have a lot of room, they depend on local players to help.)

Tournament Format - All games will be double elimination, unless there's not enough hardware.  The more hardware we have, the faster an event goes!

NO HARDWARE SHOWS UP / NOT ENOUGH FOR A GAME? - Rare, but it can happen.  No hardware, means no event, period.  Not enough, means we might make an event single elmination, etc.  Concerned?  CHECK THE PRE-REGISTRATION list, and see what's coming.  No hardware for your game, bring it up on this thread!

SSBB PLAYERS:

With the release of the MLG rules, obviously there has been pressure to switch, and to not.

http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,1770.msg37103.html#msg37103 (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,1770.msg37103.html#msg37103)

THAT IS THE THREAD TO DISCUSS THAT - you've got a week, then we either adopt MLG, or we at least edit what we have to include ledge grab, and scrooging.

He's missed SEVERAL SF4 events - locally and in AR - the AR event had more players at it than most of the normal SMASH events, but hey, he's out of his loop, whatever.

LONE - no one has pre-reg'ed yet because the event hasn't opened up pre-reg yet... Please make sure you've read the first post; we know it's long, but it's no different than other events detail page for an event of this scale.

Was some other issues but I have gotten everything taken care of but the last one I went to was the funhouse one but most people can probably agree that in the summer schedule can be a lot easier adjusted for someone who's in highschool. And. Sorry saif I'm just so excited for ssf4!! Also timmy I just want more people to come I'm coming no matter What but hey id love to play a lot of people one week whoop!!

is this the same place as the last 2v2?? and if it is are they going to let us stay later

We've had 3 events at TCC - and yes, the January event was there.

THE TIME ISSUE 100% MY FAULT - and FIXED.  We won't have forever, but we'll have enough time to finish up unless there are hardware issues, etc.  I've got DarkWraith working with Dr Viper to make sure we get a solid set of rules put together for Halo 2v2.

Lonewolf - it's prom, shake it off lol.  AND AFTER 12PM - geez.  Lol, besides Digital seems pretty set on the idea of getting out of state to rep SSF.

....also - I would be lying if I didn't mention a possible sponsorship opportunity coming out of this event.  OKgamers has been approached, and is in talks/consulting about sponsoring of gamers / events to get this businesses word out.

What's unique?  They don't seem to really care about what game lool.  So, laugh it off or not, but we've got our eyes on results closer than ever for the next few events, from the normals of Halo and SSBB, to even BB and Tekken, nothing has been taken off the table yet.

well firsst off Saif, it's SSF4 so either everyone will come or not, that game should sort of have a spot by default

It does have a spot by default.  My "or" statement indicates BOTH Tekken AND SSF4 have only one or two setups coming, and if BOTH / EITHER have a large turnout, that'll be a problem with current hardware pre-registered.

And your hardware really only counts towards one - but we do appreciate you bringing what you bring, just in case we switch later on, need something to piece together, etc.

ALL HALO PLAYERS READ!

As for the rules to do time and no conflict during the tournament for the 2v2 setup, we will have to shorten the time on games, and reduce the kill limit.

Depending on how much time we have left for finals we may be able to up it to the standard 15 minutes, with 50 kills.

But as of right now to be able to get out of there in time, I am looking at a 10 minute, 25 kill limit game.

ARE there any serious complaints about this, if so we need to discuss it but we have to get out of there on time, let me know.

The tourny starts at 12:30 right? So what time do we have to be out of there?

Can you guys make the tournament start a little earlier so that we can play actual games?

Im still iffy on if im going or not, but any earlier would be a no go for me...  Final at 8am Saturday

and I see no problem in the rule changes... I'd rather do that then to have to concede the finals again because we had no time.
but again im not 100% going...

For real

We'll have like - 7 hours.  THE PROBLEM COULD BE:
Not enough hardware.
Gamers wandering off and organizers not being mean enough :)
Not enough hardware.

We've got PLENTY of space, power and time; if we have any problem it'll be new gamers not understanding the potluck / LAN mentality of bringing their own hardware, or they simply cannot.  I for one am bringing two 360's to help out - but without ODST disks - they'll be useless :)

SO GUYS - BRING HARDWARE / DISKS / ETC :)  Enough Hardware = no need to cut rules.

STARTING EARLIER THAN 12:30 - we don't because of two things - traveling gamers, and gamers being lazy.  I've NEVER seen good results starting a tournament before 11am unless it was an event designed for the hardcore of the hardcore to attend.  We do an "E for everyone" and cater to the region, so yes, we start a bit late by some standards.  We'll be fine - with enough hardware.

--

PRIZES - Halo types have asked about the 150 - yes it does come from the Pot, as described on the Road to Supercon rules.  With well over 15 teams PRE-REGISTERED (see below for expectations...) - that'll be no problem...

...also - I'm not kidding here - HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN PRIZES / PIZZA / ETC being given away as door prizes, and 1-3rd.  Srsly, payout isn't a problem at this event.

EXPECTED TURN OUT?
Turn out for the last TCC event - pre-reg was out LONGER and sat around 60ish by the end of it - well over 120 people showed up...

This event's pre-reg wasn't out as long, but is sitting over 40.  That means by the average rule of thumb - 80 to 100+ people showing up.  We know we are against Finals for some, but even with that, it's looking to be a great event.  Trust me - if people don't show up, they are just missing out on prizes at this point anyway lol.  (date = best for TCC, and last chance we could get, sorry, would have pushed it back if we could.  Don't worry, TnT is coming, and if you think the prizes for THIS are awesome, wait till you get a look at Junes multi-thousand $$ lineup for HALO alone...  Will tell you more tomorrow!)

OH YEA - TABLETOP AT OUR EVENT - Moncon is bringing demo's to check [email protected]# - http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3020.0 (http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php/topic,3020.0)

OKGAMERS T-SHIRTS / HOODIES - we'll have the last available at this event.  We are looking into special Road to Supercon shirts, but that'll be a new design and dated - grab the last of the OKgamers stuff before it's gone!

PRE-REG CLOSED.  SEE YOU TOMORROW - don't be late, bring cash for entry and any food or drinks yo, and HELP WITH HARDWARE!  ( and use the elevator to bring it up :) )

Man, we really need to announce the streaming stuff earlier...  lol

That means by the average rule of thumb - 80 to 100+ people showing up

Really?

Yup, usually pre-reg can be reliably expected to be about half the attendees.  There are always exceptions, and circumstances that come up and change that.  We throw events to help out the local communities and get the word out about OKgamers, not predict the future :)

BIG THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS!  TCC (http://www.tulsacc.edu/) is the best college - period :)  Joe Momma's pizza (http://www.joemommas.com/) was no doubt enjoyed by Halo and Smash players that night!  Funhouse (http://riverwalkfunhouse.com/), Wizards Asylum (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CAkQFDAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmaps.google.com%2Fmaps%2Fplace%3Foe%3DUTF-8%26sourceid%3Dnavclient%26gfns%3D1%26um%3D1%26ie%3DUTF-8%26q%3Dwizards%2Basylum%2Btulsa%26fb%3D1%26gl%3Dus%26hq%3Dwizards%2Basylum%26hnear%3Dtulsa%26cid%3D8856639485762941241&ei=WYBGS-6rC4a0tgf82dDqAQ&usg=AFQjCNGk-G8nkyhzxBNXuvGIIezS11uZpA&sig2=oi0T9fzZ2xZvWDXUNKEQJQ), and Jinx (http://www.jinx.com/) giveaways were great!  Tokyo in Tulsa (http://www.tokyointulsa.com/) and Moncon (http://teamcovenant.com/moncon-2010/) convention tickets?  OH YEA!!

Well, finals definitely hurt attendance lol.  Good times were had by those that were there, a LOT of prizes were given out, and our official Halo 3 2v2 champs were crowned and lined up to represent OK in Halo come this August!!

Sad that an event with over 50+ people at it can be called a let down, but it happens :)

FEEDBACK:
Door prizes - would you rather have a ticket, or do questions / quiz's like we did this time?

Live Streaming - We've been doing it at the last 4+ events.  However, we aren't announcing as much as we should that it will happen - if you knew ahead of time we are streaming, would you tune in?

--

Tokyo in Tulsa will be the Road to Supercon event for our Fighting gamers - and after that we'll have an event in July lined up for a fundraiser to help get more Supercon qualifiers to rep OK out to Denver to represent!!

AS MENTIONED - we'll have some VERY AWESOME Halo 3 action going, as well as awesome stuff for everyone!  Should be good times!

See you at Tokyo in Tulsa, June 18-20th, 2010!
(Oh yea, one day gamer badges do exist as an OKgamers perk - they're only 10$!!)
