PC Gamers / Aion! DAE HAN MIN GUK!
« on: July 02, 2009, 03:42:44 pm »
Ho ho ho, Korean is a fun language.

THAT ASIDE, Aion is a brand new MMORPG that is having a semi-closed preview beta weekend (if you preorder the game you have access to the beta alongside many other invited beta "testers").

A few of us will be playing it... though I don't know what server (or if there even is a choice).

I know we'll be the Asmodian side... yeah... I really don't know much about what's happening this weekend, however this is a decently good resource for now:

Take a good long look at that board and see if you really want to dive deep into the tangy tartar sauce that is Blazblue.

Evolution.

This is one of the biggest tournaments internationally for a multitude of games.  It's always a veritable who's who in the specific fighting game communities ranging from the hometown heroes to the proven traveling vets.

Held in Las Vegas, Nevada in The Rio hotel from July 17th - July 20th.

The games this year are:

Street Fighter IV
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike (2v2)
Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix
Guilty Gear Accent Core
Soul Calibur IV
Super Smash Bros (1v1)
Super Smash Bros (2v2)

-

There will also be two Exhibition tournaments... Tatsunoko Vs Capcom and SSFT:HD Remix 5v5!

Pre reg has already begun and the hotel is filling up fast, but come on Oklahoma! WE GOT THIS!

-

On a personal note there are several people from Tulsa already slated to go:

We're all flying and most of us have our tickets already... we're primarily leaving Thursday morning and leaving Monday sometime, but we'll be there the entire event and would like to see more Oklahoma people reppin' more games than just Soul Calibur!

The list of people going so far is:

Myself
My roomate Alan, who isn't a gamer, but wants to go because it's freakin' Vegas!
Tony
Geoff
Jesus

APPARENTLY there could be 1000+ people signing up for SFIV so watch out, this is the big leagues and only the best in the world will win!

« on: May 11, 2009, 10:00:59 am »
So on June 13th there is a big tournament in Texas called T.i.T.  (Tournament in Texas or Tekken in Texas as it was originally known) and it will be a big event as far as 3d games and SFIV are concerned.  The Dallas crew are some of the most raucous, over the top guys to play with and are a pool of very high talent across a multitude of games.  There will be nationally recognized competition there (NorCal and ATL will both be showing up as well as many others from around the country) and all those who attend this event will not be disappointed.

June 13th is the date
Registration is between 10:30 am and 12:15pm, tourney starts at 1pm.

-

Games are:

Soul Calibur IV
Tekken : DR
Tekken Tag
Street Fighter IV
Virtua Fighter 5'

The Venue fee is $15.

Specific tournaments require separate entries and are as follows:

$10 - Virtua Fighter 5

Americas Best Value Inn and Suites
13333 N. Stemmons Freeway
Dallas, TX 75234
972-241-8521

Room rates:
1 bed, 1 night 39.95 or.....
2 bed, 1 night 49.95 ( BEST DEAL!!! )
Number will be put up for the event soon and just call and ask for the " E. P " special...

------------------

I plan on making this a one day trip if possible, 4 hours down, 4 hours up, just like the Kansas City trip, and right now as far as Soul Calibur people go I think it's going to be: Me, Tony, Animefreak, Geoff.  I know there will be excellent Street Fighter comp there as well as the Dallas crew, ATL crew, and the NorCal crew all have large groups of Street Fighter players.

General Chat / Happy Cinco de Mayo!
« on: May 05, 2009, 09:32:38 am »
The holiday commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn.

NOW YOU KNOW, so drink cheap beer, eat a handful of tacos and lean like a cholo.

I will try to post pics of the venue soon, as well as updating the thread on acquired sponsorships.

Please pre-register in this format:
John B - (AxioM) - KC, KS - SFIV
Name - (Alias) - City, State - Games being played

This is to help us create a bracket before hand and get an idea of how many setups we'll need to have available. The last tournament we had 8 TV's, including a 42" LCD with Projector setup on a stage for the Grand Finals of each tournament.

Thanks guys, and hope to see you in May!

I'm interested in this as Kansas City is but 4 hours away (I-44 -> I-35 -> You're there) and it has a variety of games.  (I'd be inclined to enter almost all of them and scrub it up!)

Anyone else interested?

Thread Archives / AlexJ vs Black Mamba on G4 (SCIV)
« on: December 11, 2008, 09:11:38 am »
http://www.g4tv.com/xplay/features/3545/Namco_Bandais_Official_Soulcalibur_IV_Tournament.html

AlexJ vs Black Mamba

So this tourney wasn't the most friendly for AlexJ as he had to use an XBOX pad over a PS3 pad coupled with him being nervous on live television on top of the excellent competition that is Black Mamba who, like our dear Coolsvilla, was a CGS DOA player and much more used to the hub-ub of playing in front of a huge, live audience.

I hope to see more people playing SCIV now that it has a little bit of exposure on such a widely viewed gaming network.
