It's Halo 3, 4x 4man teams. yes it's a $20/per person entry. Winning team splits the $200 cash+ $100 gift certificate  ($50 cash + $25 GC each) , keep in mind they only have to defeat 3 other teams.  It should only take an hour to go from start to finish per tournament.

We are aiming at shorter, repetitive tournaments here instead of an all day long tourney.

What game types and settings are you using? Also how many teams can play in the 4v4? 1 hour seems unrealistic my friend. That would be great but I honestly dont see how you would pull that off?

It's MLG rules,  Halo 3 game type is "slayer"   15 minute/50 kill rounds

halo 3 tournament is limited to only 4 teams per tourney, using double elimination and 8 consoles, (4 matches) we should be able to produce a winner every hour

in theory we can end up running up to 16 different teams through the course of the event, giving out the first place prize 4 times.  (or if only 4 teams show, 1 team could take home 1st place 4 times), We do reserve the right to ask the winning team to sit out the next tourney so all can get to play)

if 20 teams show up, we may stay the extra hour and run them through too.

Since this is our first event we have no idea how turnout will be, we wanted it small enough that we could run with a small turnout, but scalable to handle a larger turnout.

Black ops is going to be 1v1 single elimination, however we will entertain running an 8 person free-for-all if thats what the players want.

it's an 8-player tournament, it'll run at least 4 times (much faster in a 8x1v1 ) format. There's no reason we can't do either or both , or some mix in-between.  A lot of the tournament will be structured a certain way because of various factors, but this particular game format is one that i can vary to player wishes, provided we stay within MLG rules, and all 8 players agree on said format change if it differs from what's posted.

There's 4 PS3 dedicated to this particular game so you could play it a bunch of different ways.. i started trying to list them all and it made my head hurt.   If you'd like to list the permutations yourself, here's your parameters:  4 consoles, 8 controllers, 4 screens, 15 minute rounds (you can decided a tournament in one round- but should you? )  must be able to produce winner in no more then 4 rounds (aprox 1 hour).  2/4 man teams are ok if they don't mind splitting up first and second prizes amongst themselves.  You could start out with two opponents in the first round playing against each other (4 individual 1v1)  for the right to take the console solo into a 4-man FFA (that'd be tourney settled 2 rounds)

He got the prizes posted Elmo. What tvs are going to be used? 1v1 is going to be a marathon. People will camp. FFA for black ops is the best option.

@Cyriacs,   it's 8 people per tournament, at least 4 tournaments that night.   Just like with halo , if only 8 players show up, someone could take home first prize 4 times.  If more then 32 (8x4) players show up, we can add extra hours to the event.  A benefit of having this in our own store is that we can stay as long as we want/need to.

@Skorcher, We'll be using VGA monitors from store inventory, i haven't selected a model yet, it's going to be whichever i have 4/8 of the same model/type (it wouldn't be fair for station 1 & 2 to have 22" monitors, while station 3 has a 17" and station 4 has a 19")
