MK9 guys you sike yourselves out all the time... I've seen 10+ threads where you guys talk about mk being dead. Why support something and you say it yourself that it is dead.

I never said it was dead, and it isn't. Would it be at EVO if it was dead?

- You may not use any glitch that prevents the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing, etc.
- Pausing is not allowed. If the game is paused accidentally or on purpose by a player, the opponent will be awarded that game, unless it is clear that gameplay could not have been affected (for example, in the middle of an ultra animation) or if the other player agrees to continue playing.

- Versus mode, 99 seconds, 2/3 rounds, 2/3 games (3/5 grand finals), no handicap
- Gems are not allowed. This is because it takes too long to configure them for each match. Each station should have all gems disabled for all characters.

- "Simple" control type is not allowed.
- The winner of a game may change assist types (not characters).
- "Auto super jump" will be disabled on all stations.

Please bring your own fight sticks or controllers. Otherwise, you will need to convince someone to let you borrow theirs. If you want to use a PlayStation controller, it is your responsibility to supply your own converter.

We will use location-based seeding (if necessary). This means that if you and your friend(s) enter the tournament together, you will be spread out in the bracket so that you don't play each other early in the tournament. Make sure that you let us know while signing up on the day of the tournament if this applies to you so we can create the bracket appropriately.

Please let me know if you have any questions/comments. We hope to see you there! link:

Why no Mortal Kombat?

Well, that "tournament" was an epic fail. Only 8 people showed up and signed their name and an hour after it was supposed to start the organizer lamed out and proclaimed there wouldn't be a tournament at all because there were too few people. I totally wasted about about 3 hours of my time. Thanks for nothing Gamestop.

Is there an MK9 tournament?

I live in Norman, and I don't have a car but I can get around to mostly anywhere in Norman. I'm looking for people who are serious about competitive offline play in fighting games to practice with.

What games do you play? I have a few friends that get together every once in a while for MK9.

Looks like we'll have a legit 4 man team from Norman/OKC for the MK9 tourney! That would be GamerBlake, SaibotMK, RayboneKilla, and yours truly.

Come from the pot, and various sponsors / TnT / Supercon / etc.

All tournament games will be available for free play throughout the day.  We will also have several other games available for play as well such as Dance Central, etc. whatever the other titles gamers want to highlight, BYO, etc.

Use of own controllers and/or arcade sticks is allowed but not required to play, though it does help.

All that…  And our “byo” policy means between now, and this event planning on the TnT and forums will be happening – you want YOUR GAME to have a tournament – we’ve got the hardware, we’ve got the time – just comes down to what the gamers want! – Oklahoma’s Gamer Resource for Events – will be continuing it’s tradition of running a great game room – so you can count on quality tournaments based on National standard rules, as well as plenty of free play!  Working with the NVGA Game Con means this year – FREE PLAY AND TOURNAMENTS AT THE SAME TIME!

…and?  One Day Gamer passes are listed as $15 dollars; wear your 5yr Anniversary shirt?  5$ OFF ADMISSION!  (Don’t have a shirt?  Join us at future ran events to change that! )
Keep an eye here for changes, etc.

Mortal Kombat 9 on PS3!! I am there!

How was the competition?

:) ;) :D we have controllers unless you want to use your own

What controllers? 360? It would be awesome if anybody can provide a PS3 to 360 controller converter because those things are hard to find. I do have my own 360 controller but I can't play MK with it.

I am planning on showing up for this. Just need to get a PS2 controller converter for 360.

I applaud your effort for the community, but 360? Seriously, the 360 controller is atrocious for fighting games. I guess I shouldn't be too critical, but as a PS3 player I'll have to skip this one. I'll have to invest in a PS2 controller converter for the next tourney.

Sadly, I can't bring a set-up.
