And where do they go...?

NORMAN, OK BRAWL+MELEE TOURNAMENT

MLK day means you have Monday off to recover from the awesome overload and plenty of time to get back to your home state and see the sights!

*Please constantly check the first reply at the official Smash World Forum thread. I will be frequently updating it with new participants, equipment needs, side tournament status, OOS housing assignments, and any other relevant information*

Watch out 2011! Oklahoma will be Smashing Mad with the continuation of Oh Snap! Oklahoma's largest and longest running tournament series is back and better than ever! Brawl players from around the region and beyond can expect the pain to be brought.
The last two Oh Snaps held an average of 100 attendees each!
5 states are interested so far, more to come!
So expect this to be a big epic tourney with big epic payouts!

And after an astounding revival of the OK Melee scene in 2010 we will be reintegrating Melee into this series, thats right Melee will be in full effect! Smashers unite! What this means is that we will bring enough competitive spirit and explosive energy into Oklahoma from across the Smash universe that only a world of ruin will be left in our wake!

Also.... now with Smash 64 and super effective Brawl Minus side events!

Oklahoma has learned alot hosting Oh Snap! over the years. We have both old guard TOs and new blood working to put together an inclusive, smooth running, and most of all supremely fun experience for the Southwest (and maybe even some of those nifty Midwesterners and beyond!) This year HxC Lancenter will be helping us out with equipment and looking for excellent players to consider for sponsorships or support in major national and international tournaments. This tournament will be the first in a series to count toward your reputation with their company, so sign up at their site HERE and do your best!

THERE WILL BE HD RECORDING AND LIVESTREAM FROM THIS EVENT SO GET PSYCHED! Our sponsors at HxC Lancenter will be streaming this live. CHECKBACK FOR URL!

Brawl, Melee, and Brawl Minus will be in full effect. Bring setups!
Hope to get old and new crews together and have lots of fun. Hype Oh Snap, and get in some much needed practice before we take on all those crazy Out of Staters.

PM me, email [email protected], or text 405 464 5348 for more info.

Expect things to get going around 7 or 8 PM. BYOC and BYOB.

First Person Shooters / LF Perfect Dark (64) players in OKC/Norman area
« on: November 15, 2010, 03:34:16 pm »
You heard it, after playing MW2 for months on end,  I'm disillusioned with modern FPS titles. I'd love to get into some Perfect Dark, there is one other good player here. I'd love to get enough ppl for some 4 man matches or even 8 man tourneys!

Be on the lookout for Oh Snap! 6 which will include Brawl, Melee, and Smash 64 this January 15th-16th.

We are also looking to get Seasonal OK power rankings going for Melee, and if there is interest, for Brawl. (We will be trying to do both amateur and pro tiers in these rankings)

We will definitely want Tulsa to represent in these. We're trying to decide if we add Brawl to the mix if we should do it alongside Melee, or on separate weeks. If 918 gamers are interested in coming, then we should definitely consider putting them together so Tulsa can save time and gas money.

If i could get people to post their interest in showing up to the power ranking that would help us make decisions. Please provide your intention in attending and input in this thread. If you know ppl that are interested that don't frequent OKgamers forums, let them know!

Okay so just a local smash tourney primarily for those that are attending izumicon, but open to all.

Address:
Sheraton Midwest City Hotel at the Reed Conference Center
5750 Will Rogers Road · Midwest City, Oklahoma 73110

Registration: opens at 11AM

I with the help of OU's Animation Society, will be hosting Both Melee and Brawl tournaments on Saturday and Sunday at Izumicon. Bring your own controller!

$5 venue fee applies per player, if you bring a full setup (system, game, and lag-free TV(this means probably not LCDs and preferably televisions of moderate size)) the venue fee will be waived. If you bring a good lag free television over 14 inches, the venue fee will be reduced to 2 dollars. Due to the short notice, we really need people to bring setups which is why this incentive is available.

Registration
Both Melee and Brawl Teams and Singles Registration begins at 11:00 AM on Saturday. Teams registration closes at 12:00 PM. At 12:15 Team Brackets will begin.
Singles registration ends at 1:00PM, at 1:30 Singles will begin. Please be on time. I will allow early registration on friday at my booth (Animation Society booth in the convention alley)

If over 32 entrants, Singles Pools will begin at 2:00 PM. If under 32 entrants brackets will be randomized.
If the tournament is not yet over by 10:30PM we will adjourn for people to attend the dance party on Saturday night. We will resume at noon on Sunday.

Hey Oklahoma. I periodically host tournaments with the Japanese Animation Society at Oklahoma University. Surprisingly interest in BlazBlue and Tatsunoko vs Capcom has been pretty low, these games are of course very technical and very japanese fighting games.
We have had a number of tournaments in the past few months. We want to expand our horizons, we will continue to do modern fighting game, and perhaps integrate shooting game tournaments, but I would like to gauge interest in other games, rarer games that perhaps had a following at one time, and perhaps a cult following still exists.

Things like:
Rival Schools
Soul Caliber
Perfect Dark/Goldeneye
Dead or Alive
Mario Kart
Others? What game would you like to see included in a tournament, perhaps one that contained multiple mini tournaments with games such as this, centered around one large "grand" tournament like Smash Brothers or BlazBlue.
