Tulsa - Mortal Kombat - Game X Change - 6/4/2011
« on: April 12, 2011, 01:27:02 pm »
Saturday June 4th @ 2PM

Mortal Kombat

3 People showed up. No tournament happened.

We're probably not going to do fighters anymore after this. Seems there is a bunch of talk but no action. This is the 2nd fighter tournament that has failed.

The time and money we have put into this is not worth it if no one comes. So looks like. COD and HALO is it...

9 or more, it goes to single elimination.

Why?

Well, I should amend that on fighters. Since we have multiple matches going on at once. We will probably do Double Elim on those.

That is mainly for other tournaments it just became part of my "cut & paste" write up.

We did double elimination at our last Black Ops tournament and we had so many teams show up it lasted 8 hours. Fighters tend to go faster, so the number of entrants to force us to switch to single would likely be 17.

I applaud your effort for the community, but 360? Seriously, the 360 controller is atrocious for fighting games. I guess I shouldn't be too critical, but as a PS3 player I'll have to skip this one. I'll have to invest in a PS2 controller converter for the next tourney.

Where as I agree. The last time we did a Tournament on PS3 we had a lot of complaints. So far 360 has been what the majority wants. It is also the easiest system for us to get.

Just buy a fightpad, they are like 29-39 bucks. I need to get a converter as well, but I'm glad its on 360.

Plus all the mk tourneys I've seen so far on the forums are on xbox, lol. The marvel fight pad is good, very responsive and I think they are remaking it in black.

Xbox is best for sticks, ps3 is better for pad. I can actually say this is true because I own both systems and have a madcatz te for both and stick inputs are almost lawless while I've noticed delays when playing ps3. which brings me to my next point: do a majority of the players use stick or pad for this game? Most 2d fighters have a large stick community, while most 3d have a large pad community. The platform of choice for mk is still undecided at the moment because Evo supports ps3, but xbox tournaments are just as common largely due to xbox live being the better of the online community since it is more stable and stick inputs are better.

So the moral of this story is to get yourself a setup for both if you plan on being competitive because you never know what to expect.
