These monthlies are intended to draw statewide interest, Tulsa/OKC IS local, its only 2 hours.
Alot of tulsa players already come, and the drive isn't bad at all!
Part of the reason I'm encouraging your crew to show is because as of now, I have scattered about MK9 players looking for crews to play with, but they all say they don't want to drive to play with other local players. The idea is to get used to coming down every month, and eventually it will become a large statewide event where all of Oklahoma can get better. Otherwise it'll be a bunch of disparate piddly crews that can't amount to anything.

Hopefully you you guys will become more interested in the game soon, encourage some scene building, the longer you wait to make it an event the less interest it will have, we just watched this happen with AH3 because of  PSN going down.

From what i've seen MK9 players are being incredibly lazy when it comes to actually going to play the game with any passion, I'm hoping the Tulsa crew and OKC crew can come together every month to help change that! Idk how this has happened it seemed so hype just a few weeks back.

Look, I understand that you want to get your monthlies more popular and perhaps make it into something people want to go to, but the way you are going about it isn't very appealing to more than the average casual player. Just because someone doesn't find interest in it isn't saying they are lazy gamers.

You want us to drive up there to try and build your scene and get people interested because you think us basing our focus on tulsa is lazy/non productive and so on. The reason things fail are not because people aren't driving two hours to Norman...? The reason things fail is because people don't build a solid foundation and decide to spread themselves too thin.

You say there are groups that play mortal kombat up there, then you say you need us to come build interest. If all these people/groups play in Norman then they should build their scene and once they make appearances to your monthlies we would make the journey to see the competition, but driving two hours to play people who don't even know what they are doing or just to play each other is a waste of time.

We aren't lazy or "piddly crew" we look for competition. People from California are coming to play with us next month and we are going to Texas to play. They are great players and we will aquire something. You are only good as your competition.

I'm not new to the tournament/gaming scene... I've been sponsored and flown all over the states to play so although you are trying to give advice its not helpful and shoving things and your beliefs on how things should be done isn't going to help your vision. A perfect example is the huge argument about Kratos.... its a national tournament rule so if you want people to take you seriously you need to at least look like you know what you're talking about. No serious gamers needs to use or learn how to fight a void character.

So again thank you for your concern, but we know what we are doing.  Neither of us are new to this.

Sorry, not my intention there. I feel BBS is a very unarticulate way to communicate and its easy to come off as abrasive.

I'm just getting excitable about the lack of MK support around the metro.
And when I was talking about lazy piddly crews I meant around here.
Since this thread seems pretty enthusiastic I though you guys could be motivational to bring people together.
Personally I could care less about MK and I'm building scenes around other games here, but I want to provide a place for all OK MK players if they need one, which from what I can tell, they do. No one wants to play in a hot crowded store without internet, or at a venue that kicks you at at 9PM, and the vast majority of OK players will be located in the OKC/Metro ultimately.

I've just seen so many scenes go up in smoke because they were forced to travel out of state to find any kind of support for their games, I was honestly just trying to encourage some enthusiasm and community participation to build scenes statewide. I've been TOing for years, I know how to run a tight bracket, and I'm definitely not looking to appeal exclusively to casual players, I was simply expressing my distaste of the ruleset (and rulesets change) we have some world class players coming up from Texas tonight, right now its Smash and Dustloop people that are down with these events, but I'd love to see a greater diversity of players coming together from around the state, Oklahoma needs a powerup. I'm glad your playing with CA and TX to improve!

Norman will have a presence at TnT.
As for MLG? Because they are myopic and have a major disconnect with gamers.

Actually capcom is known for not giving the rights for MLG to host their games... even when MLG tries to.

So that's capcom's fault, not mlg having eye problems. *shrug*
