DEVASTATION is, once again, raising the bar for tournament standards and setting precedents. In addition to every tournament and contest having a preset prize amount, many of the events will have Qualifying Tournaments leading up to the Grand Final Invitational Tournaments on Sunday.

In essence, each of these Qualifying Tournaments are stand-alone events; you can only enter one of the scheduled events for a specific title and there is a prize for the winner. The top two players in each of the Qualifying Tournaments will be asked to compete in a Grand Final Invitational Tournament. As the Grand Final Tournament is a stand-alone tournament, losses do not carry over and all the players have an equal chance to win it all.

For example: Marvel vs Capcom 3 will have four Qualifying Tournaments, two on Friday and two on Saturday. You can only sign up for one of these tournaments and, the winner of each tournament will take home a gift card or equivalent value in cash. The first and second place player from each of the four tournaments are allowed to compete in an eight-player Grand Final Invitational Tournament bracket on Sunday. The top three placers in the Grand Final Invitational Tournament win a portion of the $5,000 prize money.

To add to that example... if you and three friends attend DEVASTATION and want to compete in the Marvel vs Capcom 3 tournament, each of you can register in a different tournament and NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PLAYING EACH OTHER! That is, of course, unless you each win and get moved on to the Grand Final Invitational Tournament. This bracket will be seeded as follows:

- Tournament 1, 1st Place Player vs Tournament 4, 2nd Place Player

- Tournament 2, 1st Place Player vs Tournament 3, 2nd Place Player

- Tournament 3, 1st Place Player vs Tournament 2, 2nd Place Player

- Tournament 4, 1st Place Player vs Tournament 1, 2nd Place Player

Ok so im really really trying to go to Devastation. Im thinking of renting a car to do so and hoping someone will go with me, and by someone i mean 4 someones.
It's a 17 hour drive, most likely end up sleeping a night at a random motel in between.
It'd cost between 150-300 dollars depending on vehicle, naturally im going for 170-ish max. We'd all have to chip in a bit for that. 40-50 bucks a person + gas.
We'd leave Wed. Oct 5th around noon and get there 6th hours after leaving a random hotel we slept in and leave Mon. Oct 10th around noon and be back on the 11th, hours after leaving hotel.  So it'll be like a week of being gone lol.
The event is only 35 bucks and hotel of course i dont know right now but it'll cost some money as well.  Really want to go lol.

It's a great sounding event, and I'd love to attend it personally - but Phoenix isn't even close to 'border contact' with Oklahoma - can't be in the T&E forum.  Same goes for Ohio, and your dup thread that has been moved.

Sorry, Tim.  Your hope of getting anyone to see this has been squelched YET AGAIN by the Saif.

Why do you move these tournament threads?  Do you NOT want people to attend tournaments?

I'm sorry guys, it's not border contact, and it's also "not just a state away".

http://maps.google.com/maps?rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS406US406&q=Phoenix&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x872b12ed50a179cb:0x8c69c7f8354a1bac,Phoenix,+AZ&gl=us&ei=rRuVTui9I4OmsQLfn9XvAQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CD0Q8gEwAA

That's 2 to 3 states away, not one, maybe 2, considering all of that TX you drive through - that's 3 states.

It's also over 1,000 miles.  To put that in perspective - we could go to pretty far into Mexico, all the way to Orlando FL, or almost visit DC for that trip - it makes Chicago look quick lol.  17 hours, GEEZ.

Sorry, Tim.  Your hope of getting anyone to see this has been squelched YET AGAIN by the Saif.

Har Har guys - I know the 3 of us are 'good friends' or whatever; if nothing else SC community - but others that read these threads don't know that.  Please avoid starting rumors I'll have to deal with in 2 years when someone says "Oh yea, OKgamers - they crush dreams, there was this poor Todd guy", etc, etc.  lol

it is only 1 staye away, meaning through 1 state into that one. The handle of our state touched the border of the one between us and it.

Dear lord man.

By this logic you'd have OKgamers - a site for OKLAHOMA covering events for our closest 16 states?  REALLY, SIXTEEN.  A quarter of the Union?~!@

6 states border us, that's plenty to cover for the average gamer; if you want to promote a "Travel plan" to others, you've got the local players forums; that's what they are for - networking with gamers locally, planning etc.

The site is a OK area resource; if it's an event in our area, great; but our AREA is our STATE, and the bordering states.  Not beyond.

If it's one of the 40+ other states not touching us, unfortunately, we aren't setup for them.

Seriously man; srsly!@&%^$@#&%^*
