I'm surprised the mods haven't killed you lol.

Anyway - I'll assume 'right now' has passed, and we can move this to aftermath?

And please do remember - most gamers do not check this site often enough for this to garner much instant response.  You want to plan something, I'd suggest a 2 week notice at the minimum :)

-_-

I know all this, and I didn't see anywhere where I complained about the lack of response in this thread. I didn't expect to get a large response. We had an impromptu LAN and needed one more, forgive me for posting a thread about it.

Sigh.

Please do remember my position Suit before getting insulted.

If I don't mention something?  People might THINK this kinda thing works.  Sadly it's not the case on as large of a scale, so I simply wanted to put it out there.

You can post as impromptu as you like.  Heck, I'll use it next time I talk to gamers that don't visit OKgamers much ;)  (Oh, and I do, trust me :D)

I've got ZERO problems with it, and the mod thing was a joke due to the whole 'right now' date lol.

In the end, I simply know we've got alot of new people hitting the site, and don't want to mislead anyone.  No dig or diss on you or your thread - simply, don't want to mislead.

While it may be true that large events do need weeks of hype and planning for turnout, this is obviously no what suit was shooting for, and I take his side on this position, he understood that he may get no response but he needed one person right then so he took a shot in the dark.

I agree with your premise XA but his thread was not the place to bring it up, very much understand him taking issue with it

I don't see how he could take a serious issue with my statements.  Other than the joke about him and the mods, it was simply pointing out the "give more than 2 weeks notice is good" and "most gamers don't check here except for maybe once a week".

And frankly?  I'll counter your taking issue and replace that with concern for "the ones who get confused using this site".  Gamers and business owners seem to share one behavior - not having much time.

I cannot TELL you how many times gamers have tried to get ME TO QUOTE THE CURRENT TOURNAMENTS for them, trying to save what? 20 seconds of surfing to "okgamers.com - click the tournaments and events banner".  I mean really.  Come on.

Business owners are the same way - they get busy.  They skim, and don't have time to research.  Etc, etc.

So what this thread could do to those who are new, or don't understand online marketing?  Set the potential misunderstanding that gamers and businesses that run across it might have "Have my event today, post today = okay."  So I was concerned, and noted that in a form of resposne to Suit.

And once again - it's not Suit or anyone's fault - it's simply the way people use the internet - fleetingly.  If there is a issue to address in that post, if it's not, it could lead to misunderstanding.  Good advice, notes on use, etc.  I could apolgoize for the joke - but I don't think that's the issue.  And bringing up the advice on usage, once again, after hearing and seeing how people use the site, seemed and seems best.
