Forum Descriptions - Save or Scrap?
« on: December 04, 2007, 02:07:28 pm »

The forum descriptions - I worry they are too wordy.  I think people just need to be told

UGH - Tournament Aftermath = ONCE A EVENT IS OVER, IT'S THREAD IS MOVED HERE.  SEE RESULTS AND AFTERMATH OF SAID EVENTS HERE.

or such.

Anyway - put up a poll.  30 days.  We'll see what everyone else things, and go with that.

I kind of agree that they are too wordy. Gamers usually want info quickly then move on.

I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling here but I think them being wordy is what get's the point across.  If for example I see a post that says "New Jersey - bloodbowl tournament - 12/25/07"  then I have a good idea about what I will be reading in the topic and can make the decision to click or not to click.  I hope that we gamers are not so lazy as to stop reading after more letters than the title of a game to get our information.  Maybe I don't get the full meaning of the question here but I hope that most people wouldn't be turned off by spending 3 seconds reading vs only using 2 seconds to read a description.  Of course those people stopped reading my post about 123 words ago so no worries.

@ Mj - Yeah he's talking about the actual forum descriptions on the main forum page after each titel (Tournaments and Events, General Chat, Local Players) not the actual topic subjects.

I think forum descriptions are necessary for organizational purposes.  I like them and wish they would stay.
