hey X_A, what are the chances of somebody giving a makeover?  A new sexy site that is pleasant to look at would be great! If nothing else just change the OU red!

General Chat / LED-LCD or Plasma?
« on: April 14, 2010, 06:19:20 pm »
When writing this post originally it turned out to be about ten long paragraphs, believe it or not it was much longer than this one lol but to be nice I'll just be as to-the-point as possible :)  Also before you ask, yes I adjusted every setting possible on the LED.

I was in the market for a new tv, and was dead-set on an LED lit LCD.  I decided on a 46" Samsung 8000 series.  I got it home, and plugged in to the plethora of plugs and cables.  The initial wow factor was astonishing; I had never seen such clarity and crispness on a television.

However after a couple of weeks my pickier side started to get to me...  It started out with little things like lower contrast (see above),  the sharpness made charecters like Kratos in GoW3 have pixellated borders around them (see above), the motion blur wasn't exactly as I expected ("    "), but nit-picking aside it was the bleed-through from the edge lit LEDs (basically a cloud-like effect)that drove me to take it back on the 30th day of my retern period.  Don't get me wrong, it had the best black level I had ever seen, but what can I say, when you spend that much money on something you had best be sure you love the ♥♥♥♥♥ thing.  Not to mention I talked to probably about twenty different people from sales to customer service to geek squad, with 50% saying its normal, and 50% saying its defective.

So back at Best Buy on the 30th day, I had become interested in plasma.  I actually spoke to a panasonic rep who happened to be in the store, for about 30 minutes.  And well longer story short, I went home with the new G20 50", and pocketed back $800.

I will say this, the blacks and whites are not nearly as deep or bright, in fact the "black" is actually a little bit closer to gray, especially with the lights on in the room.  However, there is virtually NO blur, the contrast is stellar, and every game looks fantastic.  There's no more back light issue, everything from tv to blu-ray to games look smooth with no more weird "edgey" looking charecters, and all is well.  FFXIII and GoW3 looks waaaaaaaay better on Plasma than the LED (sad to say).

So to sum it up, nothing can touch the clarity of the LEDs, but IMO I think there is still some work to do on them.  The local dimming tvs that are coming out now are suppossed to really help the bleedthrough, but its all still reletively new technology, where as Plasma has had a lot more time to grow.  Did I mention 800 bucks cheaper for a brand new 2010 model??

I vote plasma  ;D

Anyone else have any experiences with buying a tv?  What kind of technology do you prefer?

The real deal achievement on LFD2 has been conquered!  That was some tough sh**!

Now I am just looking for some teammates to play with in versus and scavenge that can play as a team and follow directions when needed.

I am NOT looking for lone wolves, a**holes, or people without mic's.

Hit me up with a friend request saying you're from this site and I'll accept it, if there isnt a messege it typically gets deleted.

Take care all and happy gaming!  ;)

General Chat / Mass Effect 2 - What class did you choose?
« on: January 29, 2010, 10:29:40 am »
Picking your starting class at the beginning of the game is a pretty important decision if you ask me.  Bioware completely re-vamped the classes giving unique abilities to each one.  I played most in the first game but my level 60 was a soldier, so I was pretty sure I would stick with that class, however after much consideration, I went with the Vanguard.  Rushing opponents then blasting them in the face with a shotty, very fun.

How many of you put the hours into getting a level 60 in the first game?  What was your first class?  What Class did you pick for ME2?

Hey guys, who plays LFD2 seriously?  I would love to get together and play some scavenge, maybe even make a team, as well as work towards finishing all levels on expert; a feat that has escaped me mainly to quitters and lack of teamwork as a whole.  If interested send me a friend request with a note about responding to this post.  Thanks all, take care!

General Chat / My 5 most anticipated upcoming Xbox 360 games!
« on: December 29, 2009, 06:56:56 pm »
Well the holidays are over, excluding new years, and the biggest releases have been...well, released.  I know a lot of you are still glued to your screens with MW 2 and Assassin's Creed 2, but here are a few games that I am definetely looking forward to in the new year.

1. Bayonetta (Jan. 5th)  Devil May Cry on crack, no compaints here :)

2. Mass Effect 2 (Jan. 26th) I cannot wait!  Just read about how you will be able to transfer saves from the first mass effect.  FINALLY leveling my bad guy to 60!

3. Star Trek Online (Feb. 2nd)  I can't deny it, I am a trekkie at heart.  Will this be better than WoW?  Probably not a chance, but hey being my own Starfleet captain sounds pretty ♥♥♥♥♥ cool.  Star Wars KOTOR online will most likely be my downfall...

4. Bioshock 2 (Feb. 9th)  Do i really have to say anything about it?

5. Dante's Inferno (Also Feb. 9th) Sure it is a GoW clone, but that does not have to be a bad thing people!  Plus, fighting through the rings of ♥♥♥♥♥?  I'm there for the scenery alone, should be pretty awesome.

Lots to look forward to in the new year, no?  Also at the end of Feb is Splinter Cell: Conviction which looks like a winner as well.

The short list for PS3: MAG (Jan. 26th) Massive online shooter, should be interesting; HEAVY RAIN (Feb. 16th)  This game will rock our socks, I will NOT be missing this suspense thriller; GOD OF WAR III (April Fools....) 'nuff said =p

Anyone else looking forward to anything?

First Person Shooters / MW2 Airport *SPOILERS*
« on: November 11, 2009, 05:38:36 pm »
I haven't seen a discussion started on what people's reactions were toward the mowing down of innocents in the airport.  Just curious as to what people thought about it, what choices you made, etc.  I personally forgot I was holding a controller when they opened fire on the crowd, I was definetely shaken up!  Half way through walking around not shooting, I started wondering, am I going to get discovered if I don't shoot?  Will I get a horrible achievement if I do? (haha)  But at the very end I starting thinking that I had a mission to do and pictured them as if they were zombies, and had no problem mowing the last of em down just as casually as my accomplices...horrible, maybe.  Infinity Ward created an amazing inner delima within us that video games rarely accomplish.  What are some of your guy's experiences with the level?

Articles and Reviews / Dragon Age: Origins
« on: November 04, 2009, 10:58:10 am »
The time has finally come, Bioware's newest RPG is out!  Anybody that has loved games like Baulder's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, or even Mass Effect (through all it's faults) will certainly be enthralled by the depth this game has to offer, as well as the hours upon hours of gameplay in store for those with way too much free time on their hands.

You begin by picking your "origin", be it Human, Elf, or Dwarf, followed by what kind of background you come from.  This is where your story begins...

Thus far I am very pleased with the combat as well as the depth of charecters and storyline.  Those loving a challenge, great story, and spending quite a bit of time in the pause menu customizing charectors will feel right at home with this epic RPG.

4.5 out of 5 in my book  ;)

Site Improvements & News / Can we have more boards?
« on: October 30, 2009, 10:11:40 am »
It would be really nice if we had a couple more boards in the local players general, like Action games, RPGS, even MMOs.  Just a thought  ;D

General Chat / True Achievement Scores
« on: October 23, 2009, 04:37:12 pm »
Hey all, just thought I would mention a pretty cool site for those xbox achievement hunters.  There is a really cool site called where you can of course, view all of your achievements, but the way they scale the difficulty of the achievements is pretty interesting, go check out your "true achievement" score!  Also, check out the Oklahoma leaderboard while you're there.  Latas

First Person Shooters / BORDERLANDS!
« on: October 21, 2009, 10:58:00 am »
Just bought it last night after work, and I am actually suprised at how fun it is!  The leveling system mixed with the FPS elements work very well together, similar to Fallout 3.  If any of you guys got it/get it, lets play some co-op!  Hit me up on XBL: SeenNotScene
