Oklahoma Artcade: The Triumphant Return!
The sequel to your favorite local video game art show has arrived! Strap yourselves in because Oklahoma Artcade is happy to announce its return to the Paramount Room for October 26th, 2018! And, don’t fret! Artcade will remain free to the public!
In 2017, over 30 artists of all ages lent their talents to the collective, providing more than 90 pieces for the show. The fine art and retro themed works spanned across several gaming genres and included a plethora of notable titles including, but not limited to: Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, Metal Gear Solid, Street Fighter, and more.
Alongside the traditional works also stood a handful of Arduino installations including custom cabinets and interactives.
Our mission is to provide local artists with an opportunity to gain exposure to the public, provide Oklahoma City with a free, recurring event, and raise money for our charity of choice, Hotdogs for the Homeless. (More information is available via: http://oklahomaartcade.com)
Thanks to the combined efforts of our artists and attendees of 2017, we were able to raise over $500 for Hotdogs for the Homeless. We heavily encourage a base donation of $5 for each attendee upon entering, though it is not required.
Access to the bar is restricted to ages 21+ with presence of a valid ID. The show is all ages, but the attached speakeasy is reserved for adults. Anyone who wants to visit the bar area must check in and obtain a wrist band.
Artists who wish to participate can apply at https://oklahomaartcade.wordpress.com/artists-apply-here/
Please note that we have added a subsection: “Dogs of Gaming” if you’re interested in providing for that theme.
The application cut-off is July 31st, space is limited. If you’re an artist or Arduino programmer, please read through the information on the page presented in regards to the application process.
