Fun is illegal.
That isn't enough to stop the Gamer resistance, though, in hover: revolt of gamers. Join the rebellion against the Great Admin – the city's new mayor who has outlawed all forms of entertainment and leisure. The city itself is a futuristic and brightly detailed extraterrestrial environment perched high above the clouds, and it's all open for you to explore. The world takes it's inspiration from games like Mirror's Edge and Jet Set Radio as well as movies the likes of star wars and 5th Element. From concept to execution, we're given a rich and detailed city that's as wonderful to look at as it is to play in, just don't get caught while doing it!
Moving through ECP-17, or Hover City, is a fast-paced adventure. The game focuses on parkour aided by the Gamer's high-tech magnetic suits. Using your gamer gear you can climb every wall, grind on rails and walls and do tricks to gain “Hoverheat” – a supercharge of your character's energy that increases your stats. Level up by gaining XP through missions and finding collectibles, and challenge others to your own missions using the game's mission editor.
The mission editor can make everything from races to gameball matches, a game similar to basketball played by throwing an unbelievably sturdy console into a goal, to any variant of game you can come up with. You have free reign to create challenges in any part of the currently available maps, Haven District (also known as District A), the E-Cop Prison, and the Sewers.
Hover is currently in Early access on steam while Fusty Game, the three-person independent developer behind the project, continues to add more content and improve the experience. As part of the ongoing development, the game's UI is being redesigned for both better usability and style. A new map, District B, is also in development. District B is the higher class area of the city – cleaner and more lush in appearance than District A's clutter and smoggy air.
The game is available now for $19.99 on Steam in Early Access. Hover Revolt of Gamers is definitely worth looking into, so come join the resistance! With your help, the resistance can surely stop the oppression and free Hover City!
